How much do they cost? Should I just get a PS3, for added wife annoyance?

I picked up a Sony one from Comet for a ton. Seems alright.

Is it this one http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-1882.aspx, Sony BD360? They seem to have been about the £100 mark for a few weeks now. I got one over christmas for a ton at tescos although they seem to have gone up a bit now. (I didn't get the 3 free movies pack).

It's very good and I've been very pleased with it and will get updates automagically if you plug it in to the internets via the ethernet port.

My words of caution for cheap Blu-Ray players: make sure you can update the firmware. I had a Tesco's own brand player that had no means of updating the firmware so it wouldn't play newer disks which was masssively shit. But they were quite good about letting me return my defunct player 7 months later and getting something better.

The Philips has a usb port on the back and comes with an update disc in the box. Sadly no internet connection, but is still easily updated.

I would be very tempted to then get some sort of girl-friendly game for the PS3, so she can play something while I shoot terrorists in the other room.

I'm glad you mentioned that. I've been looking for investment in a game I've been making. It's called "Clothes Shopping Menstruation Wedding 2010". A working title, obviously.

Nice touch making it a yearly thing. Better still, though, make the versions more frequent; women are insane for having to keep up with the latest fashions.

There will of course be eleven versions, each with its own colour scheme so you can co-ordinate with your shoes.

I am having trouble with the colours on the 'having a headache' minigame though, some sort of glitch. Possibly it will be put aside and reserved for DLC instead.

Pfff, it's not a patch on the 2009 edition, and until the wand comes out the PS3 versions have just been a pale shadow of the Wii original. She might prefer "Puppy Grooming Horse Euthaniser" or "Pretend To Do Chores While The Real Ones Go Untouched" in the meantime.

Barclaycard have just reduced my credit limit from £4,850 to £260 now that I've paid off the (quite close to the limit) balance in full.

I've already cut up the rest of my cards, I was planning on using that one as a card for emergencies. £260 is better than £0 but I can quite easily foresee an emergency where £260 isn't enough.

Might give them a call and ask them to bump it up.

Amusingly, my access rights to the Novell network have (presumably accidentally) been bumped up to the highest level. I could create chaos!

But I won't.

Yet.

Went and had a nice big dump. Pulled on paper hanging out of dispenser and got four whole squares. The roll (stupid work toilets with stupid dispenser) now empty. Had to do my best and then hobble around to the next stall (thankfully nobody else in the toilets at the time) to get more.

If you have the choice, your security question should always be "the name of your first pet"

No one EVER guesses mine was called "Spot" and that would never make it to my C.V.

Oh.. hang on....

Could be worse, I'm reading an old copy of the Fortean Times at the moment and there is a story in there about a man from St Helens who in a single week won the lottery, a spot the ball competition, the pools and a raffle, his total winnings? £33.80.

No, it's is the sound of wind, a dull church bell in the distance and the low squeak of a sign swaying in the breeze.
