So being human is back and excellent. If you haven't seen it get a copy of the first series and catch up pronto. It's on Sundays at 9 on BBC 3.

This a thread is for discussion of the current epsodes (series 2 ep 2 was just on) so will be spoiler central.

My thoughts on the first two episodes (I'm practising typing on my phone so please forgive awfulness in access of normal):

if anythIng it's darker than the before. I think it's a master stroke that it's a fantasy show that treats murder to be a serious as any normal drama. It's not okay just because their a vampire or whatever.

The second master stroke is how the after life appears to work in the show. It's genuinely horrifying. The conversation between mitchell and ghost girl about humans can never fnd out what it's like is chilling.

And describing it as 'men with sticks and rope' is such a brilliant light touch of writing.

Which all makes for the ghosts storyline to bey favourite so far. Saying that I loved the description by the new bad vamp about what it would be like I people found out.

I managed to miss episode 1 as I thought the whole thing began at 9pm...

Other than that, it was most excellent.

It's almost certainly on iPlayer, for those who missed any of it.

Yeah, the show's really jumped up a notch this year, it's been absolutely terrific. Shame no more Herrick, obviously, but Ivan's really had his moments - the speech about how the world would be if anyone discovered them was funny, awesome and chilling.

Okay so watched ep 2 and it had a lot of things going for it.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Mitchell in charge and finding out that the old deals dont stand
The "Gay vampire" killer :-)
The way that as Nina put it they have let themselves be drawn into stuff - stealing bodies / etc
Its interesting the awe the vamps seem to feel around George
Nina's struggle to come to terms with whats happening has been very well played out.
Annies run in with the 'almost' dead person and that death was coming for her only to have him do the right thing at the end was chilling (no i dont wanna go through the door!)

Ivans speech was insanely good. Chilling to the bone, and really fucking gutsy.

It says something about how times have changed that, that can be his argument.

This weeks was quite slow for a while and then stepped up at the end for a reveal and the trailer for next week looks great.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
So Mitchell is going to be undone by just de-toothing the vampire and not killing her , its also interesting to see just how far he's walking down this 'i have to do this - i have no choice' route.

Annie tried to do something nice and it did actually work although it really was George that sorted it all by being honest.

And Nina is with the baddies (including Mitchell's "friend") and is going into the pressure chamber next week

Did no one else watch this? George's new affliction really did steal the show.

Tremendous as always. Hereos being after it really highlights how different it is too typical formulaic pap.*
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
So Mitchell is paving his way to hell with good intentions and I guess the other housemates won't be happy when they find out, George's failure and controlling the beast was heartbreaking - and I really want to find out more about the men with rope.

Its obviously less joyful than the last season, but I'm glad they are dealing with the fallout from what happened without sit-coming it into nothingness.

Proof that you don't need 21hr seasons to tell a story.

* aside Hereos is basically unwatachable now. I'm staggered how low it has fallen whilst keeping so many of the original cast from walking away in disgust.

Just watched this weeks episode and it was excellent

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I really feel for George , he's trying so hard but cant control the beast within (some laugh out loud moments at teaching the class swearing and correcting the writing on the mirror) , and Mitchel has all these good intentions but is letting them lead him the wrong way - the most positive and strong one out of all of them was Annie.

And its strange to look back at that episode and realise thats 3 people , each with their own story / struggles and they were all told through the same 60 minutes , compare that with other shows where you'd get a 'george' episode and everything would happen with him and all the others would just be filler

And Series 3 confirmed (warning the link contains spoilers for this season and stuff we've not seen yet)

That's good news, good to see Aidan Turner signing up for it, I'm amazed he hasn't sodded off to the US on the basis of this and Desperate Romantics, he's a good looking lad.

Marvellous news.

Just watched the last two episodes back to back.

George was very funny with his Tourette's style affliction, and the twist at the end of the penultimate episode was one I did NOT see coming.

I love this show. So many little touches of comedy (such as the vampire execution scene at the start), but they fit in really well.

Finally watched this weeks episode last night.

Brilliant as usual. Glad that series 3 is confirmed, hope they keep the quality high.

A slightly disapointing episode this week with

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Mitchel's backstory being the most interesting , the first time Herrik trys to pose as a policeman , and we get to meet Josie (who we saw die last season).
I do wonder if Mitchel just killed or 'fed' from the cop , and its strange after the pedo stuff last season that he drew so many comparasons to the guy the cops wanted him to kill. Although he did come clean with the doctor which may be why she spared him ?

George went off on a bit of a crusade but it didnt quite ring true and the baby stuff just seemed like a distraction for Annie.
Its still a great show but I found this episode to be a little meh

I really enjoyed last week's, too. The idea of exploring the sort of messages a medium would pass on if they could really talk to the dead obviously isn't a new one, but it was handled really well.

George is still a tosser, though.

Yes, I really enjoyed that episode as well, last nights was splendid as well...not sure how they're going to resolve everything for the third series.

I've just watched this weeks (and watched last weeks last night) and it is all gearing up to go splat

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
"Bad" Mitchell is a scarey prospect , I'm sticking with at least one of the Werewolf's in the depressurisation chamber and their friends fighting outside of it - I also wonder what powers Molly has - she 'saw' the real George in her dreams - i also am not sure that Greorge got all the way home without 'scratching' someone on the way....

It would be nice if it could better or at least match the tiddie quota of True Blood.

Indeed. And hopefully it won't. The fallout from the end of series 1 where

they killed eric
has led directly to this, when it could have been easily used as a cheap reset switch.

I hope the next season deals with the consequences of all this in detail. Though it is a shame that the banter that permiated the first season has been reduced by them having to keep the characters apart more in this one.

That said they may cop out (slightly) as there were hints of

Overall a good ending I thought with some weak bits, mostly hinged around shitting their pants at Old Man with Bible & Stick. Very good series overall, and I'll certainly be watching the next one. I need my Annie back! :'(

I was expecting Annie to return from a door , but not in the way she did , and her description of the afterlife sounds terrible (have they got a form for that?)

Herric back at the end will make next season interesting

Boo (probably) less Annie next season. Yay more Nina! Double-yay more Herrick!

Good to see George staying true to form. When he heard the (heartbreaking) message Annie left on the answering machine, I turned to my wife and said "He's going to be a complete dick about this, isn't he?" Sure enough, two minutes later he's shouting at her for not wanting to face eternity watching him fucking up his life. What an arsehole.

Loved Annie's description of the afterlife. Sometimes the scriptwriting on this show is so bloody good it hurts. Loved the message from Tully, for all that it didn't make a lick of bloody sense. Can't wait for the next series.

Indeed it really gets the show don't tell balance right.

The afterlife is pissing terrifying and we've only ever seen a door.

I hope they keep it that way for the next series. And don't try and show it - and it be all rubbish.

As an aside: I once had a dream where i went to hell and it had the kid from home alone dressed as a clown. Still scares me.
