£50 delivered if you pay via paypal.

£45 if you would like to pay via cheque.

I post out first class so you'd probably get it next day in the UK.

I've put it up for sale on Amazon for £70 and it's not unusual for me to get those prices. Yes you can probably buy it from ebay a little cheaper but at least with me you'd get quality service guaranteed.

Oh butts. Is this one of those in-demand games already? I thought it only came out late last year.

[edit] It never came out in PAL places then?

Not yet so its either a US or Asian version you need to pick up and £50 seems to be about the going rate at the moment (although a lot of the ebay ones are going to be shipped over so wont be here quickly).

If it does get a European release the price will drop but until then if you want it you'll have to pay lots for it :-(

Ah, thanks for the info. I can probably wait, given the fact I've been waiting four years to buy a current-gen console. ;)

Not to tread on anyones's toes, but if they can wait till next month (and it still isn't out in the UK) I was thinking of picking a couple of copies up for peeps when i'm in the US for work.

"Hardcore" RPG for the PS3

Official website : http://www.demons-souls.com/

Wikipedia page : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon%27s_Souls

Metacritic has it at an 89 right now : http://www.metacritic.com/games/platfor ... emonssouls

Most review scores seem to be low 9's / high 8's e.g Gamespot UK gave it a 9.0 http://uk.gamespot.com/ps3/rpg/demonssoul/index.html

I've sold this now and I chickened out and let it go for a disappointing £49.99 on Amazon resulting in a meagre £44 back to me with which to post it to Europe. I should have had more nerve.

I did only pay £26 for it though, it's just I prefer much bigger profit margins..

I just ordered this seeing as it's meant to be one of the bestest games on the PS3. It's also meant to be rock hard, though. Given my fairly short fuse with frustrating games anyone care to take a guess as to how long before I trade it in, in a huff?

I got it from Zavvi, the BLACK PHANTOM edition. The offer of a book I'll never read and a soundtrack CD I won't listen to made it seem worth the extra tenner.

Oh dear, I really didn't look very much before ordering that. I looked last week and it seemed to be either out of stock everywhere or £50 so when I saw it at Zavvi for £40 I snapped it up. It's only £35 on Amazon. >:(

After an hour of not really getting anywhere and putting up with pretty crappy graphics I decided the game wasn't for me.

It was boring and a terrible trudge. If you like repeating 5 minute sections of a game over and over again I guess it's the best game ever.

Terrible graphics? It's gloomy, but gorgeous. Took me two hours to do the tutorial and first level the other day, knowing what I was doing, so one hour is nothing.

Which is my point exactly. I could spend an hour being bored and frustrated, getting nowhere or I could go and play something far more entertaining in that time instead. Where I can make progress.

But that's the point, you're always making progress. You're learning all the time, pushing a little further and a little further and a little further.

I dunno, I think it's a masterpiece, up there with GTA IV, Hitman: Blood Money and Crackdown.

This is my description of the game from rllmuk -

Okay so there's a guy and he's hitting you in the face. Every few seconds - BAM! - his fist connects and you double over in pain. After a while though, you start to see what he's doing, but you still get hit. A bit longer and you find you can anticipate what he's going to do, but you still get hit. And then you realise you know what type of punch he's going to throw before he does. So the punch comes in, you neatly sidestep it, then hit him square in the balls. He falls over and you stamp on his face roaring with bloodlust, throwing your arms up towards the heavens.

And then another, bigger, meaner man comes along and hits you in the face again. And again. And again. Until, once again, you find yourself reacting without conscious thought and you send him sprawling to the ground.

This keeps going over and over, with more men coming to punch you. Your face is a broken, misshapen mess, but you've learned a lot. Your fists and feet are covered in blood. Some of it's yours, but some of it is the delicious blood of the men you've defeated. You lick your hands clean, scrape the clotted blood off your shoes, smile a toothless smile and prepare for the next beating, because you know that however painful it's going to be, eventually you'll prevail.

It's a bit like that. Only the men are skeletons and sometimes you fall off a cliff.

This arrived the other day. the Black Phantom edition is a nice package however after browsing the guide with it's endless tables of stats and magics I've yet to summon up the courage to put the disc in. I think I'll be needing a fair bit of free time.

I've had a few hours on this now and I'm really, really enjoying it. It's a shame that this is PS3 only, I think if it were a 360 game then it would have been bummed to heck on here.

Do you have the Black Phantom Edition with the guide book?

If not you might want to have a look at the walkthroughs on here even if it goes against your normal instincts (it's where most of the book was taken from anyway):

I can't even be arsed to plug my PS3 in. Gran Turismo 5 might tempt me, if only so I have a bit of ammunition for a whinge about how shit it is. Uncharted 3 and that ico game are all I can muster in the "gonna be bothered plugging it in again" category.

Shame, as there's some quality stuff on it.

Although the PSN store is pretty unusable.

Given that I don't really play online much these days I'd say that my PS3 and 360 are about even in the amount they get played. I doubt I'll get GT5 as I have a racing wheel for the 360 and I don't really enjoy racing games without one now. And I'm fucked if I'm buying one just for GT5.

Like what? As far as I can tell, I own all of the quality stuff. Nothing has been released worth looking at for absolutely ages. Nothing that you can't get on 360 as well. Even the good PSN stuff has dried up.

It's even better than Halo:Reach.

My confession is that I could never get on with the classic and somewhat similar Oblivion. It just fucking bored me to tears: too stat heavy, silly fucking never ending monotonous tedious dialogue, trekking across expansive lands. Same with Fallout 3; for some reason I couldn't invest in it. But this just seems to click with me. The atypical for this kind of RPG 'Lord of the Rings'-ness doesn't seem forced; the weapons, magic and stuff is just on the right side of, say, Dungeon Master, without needing to check everythings stats - just swop a couple of weapons round, level this up, drop this, press square to sip an energy boosting potion - even the graphics are fantastic but have a nice wide sense of awe about them: the dragons roosting on a cliff side; racing up a efw flights of stairs and looking down at where you've just come from miles below.

I thought I might throw the controller at the TV at the lack of respawn points - you die and it's back to the start of the level - but you keep all your equipment you've harvested each time you die but the levels are quite smart and there always seems to be a new route you can open up (if you get far enough) so you don't have to keep grinding through the level. You can just take the short cut back to where you left off.

The characters spout a load of nonsense of course but the voice acting is on the whole 'alright' to 'excellent' (the guy who holds your weapons in the nexus is a particular highlight. He's got great inflection and he sounds close to tears when he talks about his daughter who died. Great stuff). The ramblings always kept short so you don't have to sit through a load of tedious waffle while staring at a close up of someones face.

I haven't turned on my xbox for a couple of days due to this!

Abe's Odessey is out for the retro gamers (reminds me of Limbo of course). Hey, I did notice that LBP has ICO and Shadow of the Collossus skins and shit. Surely that MUST mean that the HD make-over is definately going ahead.

It does! I was excited about it, then I waited. Then I got deflated. Now I don't care and I'm almost hostile towards it. Why did it take them so fucking long to release it? And I wasn't going to spend £70 importing it. It's like being in the 32 bit era again with Jap games taking over a year to come out over here, plus I bet it isn't as good as Fallout 3 and Mass Effect :P

Really? I just noticed Abe on that Playstation+ money grabbing bullshit and assumed it was new. Oh well. Still, that Limbo, aye?

Anyway, now you've saved yourself some money as you don't have to spend £70. I got the special edition with the book, art and music DVD, for £29 at GAME of all places.

It's completely different really. It's mostly a fighting game rather than a go here, pick up this thing, take it somewhere else, talk to some pleb sort of thing. It's basically just go somewhere, kill all, go somewhere else kill more stuff. But I just find the killing itself is more entertaining than ME or FO3. This is despite me far preferring the settings of those two games.

Ah right it must be the PS+ offer this month or something, but yeah I got it and spent an evening near enough completing it a long time ago! I'll look out for Demon's Souls - it was always my intention to pick it up, just, like I say, I can't be arsed to plug the PS3 in right now. Maybe I'll get it when GT5 comes out. I forgot about Killzone 3 as well, which is potentially good. KZ2 was excellent. Not interested in Resistance 3 because the first two are shit, and inFamous 2 can fuck off as well because the first one was shit. Big meh.

Despite my meh attitude to the PS3, I still maintain Uncharted 2 was the best game of 2009 by a fairly long way. It was brilliant.

I know, I know, was kidding! I read all of the reviews and watched all of the videos way back when the US version was released. It's since then my interest has dwindled. But I'm glad you lot are saying it's good, and I'll pick it up if I spot it for reasonable monies.

:o

I loved it! It was like a proper summer blockbuster movie in a video game. Perfect for playing over Christmas when it's all miserable outside. I didn't feel inclined to play it again either though, but I very rarely do - I don't really have any interest in playing a narrative-driven single player thing more than once, unless it has co-op or sandbox-y gameplay, and even then it's rare that I'll bother. I certainly wouldn't ever mark a game down because I didn't fancy sitting through it all again immediately after I'd completed it - unless it was something like DEAD RISING and designed with multiple replays in mind.

Although change "once I'd completed it" to "Once I'd got halfway through"

Although I did the same for the first one, but later returned to it and played it through 3 times.

Ratchet and Clank, by the same developers, meanwhile, was pretty excellent (aside from the Quest for Booty one, which wasn't). Crack in Time particulary, as they didn't feel the need to crowbar in motion controlled minigames.
