Starts on the 5th July.

The silly bit of me is thinking "Hey, it starts in Brest, why not go?".

I love le tour, despite all its flaws.

Shall we have a grand weekend away?

I love Le Tour.

Yes it is full of doped up cyclists but asking them to perform superhuman feats of endurance day after day, what the heck did you expect? I love the drama of the overall race unfolding through the microbattles of each stage. I like the chivalry and sportsmanship even amongst those fighting for the yellow jersey and the tactics is screwing those people over on the split from the peloton. I love the madness and bravery of the sprinters, the skilled descenders and lone breakaways.

And cycling has the best commentators, Phil Liggett, Gary Imlach and David Duffied on Eurosport - who could fill five hours of nothing in hugely entertaining fashion.

I've never paid any interest to Tour de France, but I really enjoyed the programme about Mark Beaumont cycling around the world. Now that's endurance.

Blokes who shave their legs (for the aerodynamics, see, not teh gayzors) on bikes. Riding along a road. Woot!

I've never really managed to get into it. Maybe if they had spikes sticking out of their wheels, or they used flails to get past each other.

It's like a really slow sedate version of motorcycle racing, with fewer and less good crashes.

This is not to say that anyone who enjoys Le Tour is inherently Wrong on the wrongest level known to wrongdom, of course. No, no, no. Non, indeed.

I used to watch it, quite a while ago they had really excellent daily coverage / commentary (on Channel 4 I think) and me and my dad would be glued to that.
Where's it on these days?

ITV4? Sounds rubbish.

Still I might have to check it out, it's a superb summer sport to watch..
