OK, I've deliberately not spent a fortune on games in the Oct/Nov rush this year and in fact have not paid a great deal of attention to the release schedules at all this year. I have Forza 3, MW2 and I've just acquired L4D2 as my now 16 year old daughter wanted it for her birthday.

I am planning on getting Assassassassin's Creed 2 for myself to tinker with during the 2 week period of excess arriving soon.

Is there anything else out there for the consoles I should be looking at or are they all being bounced to new year

I'm currently in that annoying limbo of not being able to buy games I really want because relatives may already have bought them for me as presents. But hopefully this annoyance will be lifted come xmas when Santa brings me:

Borderlands
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Crackdown
Mirror's Edge

and I also want Assassin's Creed 2 which isn't on the list so I could buy myself, but it's too expensive for me still at this time of year.

WET is good fun and available for 12.99

A bit repetitive, but stylish and overall just good hack/shoot/jump fun.

Awesome, by the looks of it so am I. (I'd applied for a temp job for the run up to Christmas as the weather's awful, but I've no heard anything)

I've asked for:

  • Halo: OFSTED
  • Guitar Hero 5 (w/guitar)
  • GTA: Episodes from Liberty City
  • Brutal Legend

I'll probably just get some socks.

Ive not asked for any games this year. Last year I got SMGalxy and Mirrors Edge and havent finished either.
Good excuse on SMG as I lent it to a friend and havent got it back yet. Mirrors Edge I always mean to play then something else gets in the way.

I guess I kinda getting Asshole Creed 2 with that FHM sub malarkey so see if that arrives.

Otherwise, there isnt much I want.

And you with a litter of young-uns too!?

Honestly, watching a 4 year old play GTA4 and gleefully blowing up police cars with a rocket launcher wouldn't bother you? It bothered me at my brother-in-law's house. Enough for me to have a word.

I reckon it would bother me too.. It's like letting kids watch "adult" movies... the kind metal angel likes.

They have an age rating on there too... Wow, look at me getting on my high horse and everything?

Actually, I'm being slightly hypocritical here as I was watching 18 rated movies from a young age. But I reckon there's a distinction between passive violence and actively controlling it, Shirley?

Yeah, but it's one of those films thats been boxed setted to death, so it's hard to get the first one on it's own.

What's the most psychologically disturbing 18 rated film around? If he's 13 and watches 18 films, I want to fuck him up good.

The Idiots?

Anyway, it appears it's too late as MrsA has actually gone and ordered the Saw films for him.

I'd go with The Mist. Hideous monsters, loads of claret, pretty much relentlessly terrifying for the entire last hour, brutal ending.

I'll be getting my 16 year-old sun L4D2 for Christmas. And only partly because that means I don't have to buy it for myself. Personally, I've got much less of an issue with him playing an over-the-top violent game that's set in an obviously fantastical setting than something like GTA IV, which is much less graphic but actively rewards the player for immoral/dickish behaviour.

I'm not a puritan, I just like the puritan look.

Aye, forget The Idiots (ta for that!), and warp his mind with that doozy. Also, Lynch's 'Rabbits' on youtube. Not violent, just fucking creepy.

Get him Plan 9 from outer space and tell him that that's the last film that'll ever be made because they're run out of money.

That'll buy you a few years.
