In the thread about DS games, we discovered that quite a few of us have very large pockets for carrying all the DS games we could want, but by carrying lots of games at once we found that we enjoyed them less.

So! Here's your chance to pick the one* game that fits each of the categories below so slim down what's in your pocket, and perhaps to make people try a game they haven't heard of.

The categories are:
Game to play when you've only got five minutes
Shooting game
Puzzle game
Game to play when you've got a long time
Driving game
Adventure game
Strategy game
Rhythm action/music game
Platform game
Sports game
RPG
Best minigame game
Game you just can't do without
Honourable mention

Here is the forum code:

It's fine to put one game into more than one category, and fine to leave out categories if you don't have a preference.

*Yes, one. One is better than the other, so choose the best one. If you choose two you will be directed to read the following: I am a twatty spacker

So, here are mine:

Game to play when you've only got five minutes: Mario Vs Donkey Kong - it's a game like lemmings where you have to collect all the coins and then get your mini Marios out of the level.
Shooting game: Space Invaders Extreme - Space Invaders with power ups, bonus levels, and much more fun. I haven't tried the squeal, though, which is rumoured to be better.
Puzzle game: Professor Layton - I am currently playing Pandora's Box, but that's only because I've finished The Curious Village. Both are superb.
Game to play when you've got a long time: Advance Wars: Dark Conflict - simply superb turn-based was sim. I chose this over Dual Strike as I dislike the 'two moves in one go' special move in the latter.
Strategy game: That would be Advance Wars again.
Platform game: New Super Mario Bros - it's so well done, it's almost sublime. The best Mario game on any platform ever, says I.
Sports game: Mario Basketball - although I must confess I don't really play sports games on my DS.
RPG: Final Fantasy IV - it's Final Fantasy
Best minigame game: Warioware Smooth Moves: A bunch of super-mini games (some less than 3 seconds)
Game you just can't do without: Advance Wars. It's the best thing on the DS
Honourable mention: Cooking Guide - a cookbook with built in timers, videos, and a "what can I cook with the stuff I've got" section. Genius.

Game to play when you've only got five minutes:
Picross. Just do one puzzle (if you can)
Shooting game:
Space Invaders Extreme.
Puzzle game:
Layton. Both are equally good, with different flaws. Both have stupid endings, I wonder if they will top them in number 3.
Game to play when you've got a long time:
Chrono Trigger. It is the best version pretty much.
Driving game:
Mario Kart DS.
Rhythm action/music game:
Elite Beat Agent.
Platform game:
NSMB is a good new 2D mario platformer.
RPG:
Chrono trigger
Best minigame game:
Rhythm Paradise
Honourable mention:
Geometry Wars: Galaxies is not bad.

I know I'll forget something but here goes..

Game to play when you've only got five minutes: Zoo Keeper
Puzzle game: Meteos
Game to play when you've got a long time: Castlevania:Dawn of Sorrow. It takes a good while to find/unlock everything
Driving game: Mario Kart DS
Platform game: Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Sports game: Sega Touch Darts
RPG: Puzzle Quest. Ok, it's mainly a puzzle game, but there are enough RPG elements in there. I tried to like MA's Etrian Odyssey but its difficulty level put me off
Best minigame game: 42 All-Time Classics
Game you just can't do without: Zoo Keeper

Grim... isn't Smooth Moves on the Wii, not the DS?

Game to play when you've only got five minutes:
illust logic - nintendo's picross but better. In every way.
Shooting game:
I got a quick go on a friends cart of a japanese all boss fights game (maybe from treasure?) I really, really want to play it when I get another DS. But as I can't judge that on what I played I will stick with the superb Space Invaders Extreme
Puzzle game:
Professor Layton and the Curious Village (or sequels) a quick brain teaser anyone. (really should go to illust to be fair)
Game to play when you've got a long time:
Phoenix Wright. Like settling in with a good book. Of awesome.
Driving game:
Super Mario Kart. Superb. Quite forgotten about. The challange mode bit is acebest.
Adventure game:
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - the original (DS title) and still the best
Strategy game:
I would recommend Advance Wars or Fire Emblem, but I honestly think the GBA versions are far superior.
Rhythm action/music game:
Rhythm Heaven - the not nearly as good as Rhythm Tengoku but easier to get sequel
Platform game:
New Super Mario Bros. So very, very good. One of the few games I've 100%'d.
Sports game:
Erm. Er. Elite Beat Agents. Cheerleading is part of sport.
RPG:
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - wonderful, adorable, awesome.
Best minigame game:
???
Game you just can't do without:
I'll edit this in later
Honourable mention:
I'll edit this in later.
