Got a USB hard drive with stuff on it. It worked fine on the old laptop, but somehow now it isn't working.

Comes up as a USB hard drive, but clicking on it doesn't work. Sounds like I need some kind of hard drive recovery tool....

Done, and tried it back in the old laptop.

Does a different USB stick work in the PC?

Right click my comp, manage, disk management, change drive letter

Get a caddy. They're very useful for this kind of thing

Have you turned it off and on again?

Is that still an issue in Win7? In XP it wouldn't appear at all if that was the case.

Disk management is where you need to be looking for all HDD related stuff, though.
