Any BeeXers fancy a bit of FIFA 10 cup action? I've got 5 or 6 of my Peowwchildren up for the cup but I thought it'd be nice to get some of youse lot involved.

We tried a league last year but got bored but I reckon a cup would be a bit snappier and easier to update.

The ground rules would be that we all play as the same team and that we play in an excellent way (ie - don't just use the cheap and nasty cut back and tap in method of scoring). Two legged affairs with a one leg final.

Up for a bit of it?

Bugger. My live sub ran out a few days ago (not sure whether I'll be renewing) or I'd have probably given this a try.

I had a 1-month card after my 360 RROD so depending on how long the cup ran, it might be enough!

Give it til the end of the weekend for everyone to sign up. Then I'll haphazardly figure out a way for us to pick the team we've all got to use.

Then I'll find an online cup schedule generator (I've seen one before somewhere) and then we're good to go - probably next Weds maybe?

I want to keep it simple - especially for the first attempt.

We did a PEOWW league last year and it fell apart through being choreish and gash.

Any input from youse lot is cool as well.

It's probably a good idea I can't play, what with being the reigning SWOS champion, and all.

May I suggest (from experience) that you don't allow someone who suddenly turns up having made 2 posts enter? They don't usually hang around.

That was an off-day. I saved my A game for the semis and the final. I was unstoppable.

Count me in. Not sure how it'd work if the numbers don't add up to 8, 16 or 32 players if it's going to be a cup, though. Maybe a group stage? I don't know.

Similarly, is there any BEEX team online play this time round? Last season's games were generally top fun, even if we were usually on the Hull City-ish side of the scorelines. Main problem was that the games were on a Wednesday, when I'd often prefer to be watching your actual football.

Surely some kind of group stage would be workable without being too long-winded... or just have copious amounts of byes...

Actually, Romanista and I just had some very enjoyable SWOS matches. I'll set this up once the Fifa one is finished, so as not to tread on any toes.

Indeed so. Plus it means everyone gets at least a couple of games against different opponents. Otherwise, whoever comes up against The Forum King Of FIFA 10 (i.e. me*) wouldn't get much out of the whole affair.

(* Clearly not me.)

[edit] Reply aimed at TheAlbin0Kid, of course.

For teams, why doesn't everyone pick a team 4 stars or more, then put them all together and draw them out.

as myp said, good swos games, made me a happy swosse, i seem to be in a gaming mood (maybe it's the darker nights etc., but played more game slast week, and achieved things (mario kart, gw:re2), that were frustrating for me earlier... so i'll be in the fifa 10 too

(incidentally, i actually played fifa 09 today, as i clecked on dimrills "i achieve thing" and kind of studied it, and it siad "if you want easy achievements do this and this in fifa 09)

If it's any help, when I ran the SWOS tournament, I set it up so you had groups of three and played each other twice. That guaranteed at least four games for everyone, which seemed fair enough, then followed by semi finals and a two-legged final. Just be careful though, because even though it was 3 mins for a game, some people would never be arsed for weeks to get their games played, despite having two weeks and a clear deadline!

It was worth it in the end, though, and we had an extremely worthy winner.
