I have heard the name Noah and the Whale, why would I have heard that? Have they had chart stuff, or am I getting the feeling they are on a movie soundtrack?
They've had chart stuff - "5 Years Time" was their big single. You're possibly getting confused because they're named after a film, though. Or because their last album was the soundtrack to a film, but a film that was made for their last album to be a soundtrack to. If you see what I mean. Ish.
Ah yes, 5 Years Time, I know that. Is it Juno that is from? Oh I like her voice then, I will really need to remember to investigate further.

I'd disagree about White Lies, incidentally. Their album is a bland, commercial, by-the-numbers ripoff of Editors, who in turn are a slightly more commercially palatable version of Interpol, who are great. White Lies, though, are - at best - completely superfluous.
I heard a White Lies song on the radio once and liked it, then I heard a 30 second clip advertising their album and liked it, then finally I was in HMV and it was playing so I asked who it was, found out it was them and bought it. I have enjoyed listening to it quite a lot, I really like his voice and there a few decent songs but to be fair I can see your point. I couldn't name any of the songs if I tried and although if I listened to them again I would enjoy it, I haven't had an urge to put the album on again for a wee while.
I really like Editors although I think I was a bit late to the party. I remember hearing a lot about them two years running when I was at T in the Park but never going to see them and it was only really about this time last year I pricked up my ears. Again it is his voice that really appeals to me but I love singing along with the tunes so I regret not seeing them at a festival.
Sounds like Interpol should be right up my street then.

On a completely different note, I just picked up the new Fuck Buttons album, Tarot Sport, and it's really jolly good in a walls of intense shoegazey dancey electronic noise kind of way. Imagine a more intense, more danceable Maps, or if Underworld ran every piece of equipment they owned through 14 overdrive pedals and then turned it all up to 11. Worth a listen, but sadly not on Spotify.
This sounds very interesting, if I ever remember then I might have a wee look in Fopp or HMV or something.
Another album I forgot to mention is Anthony and the Birds, took me a few goes but I really love it now.
