I did my only gig as a freelancer at TVC the day they tried (and failed) to set off the second set of bombs. Previously I'd been just able to swipe my way through with my ID card but now I was freelance I found myself at reception standing next to some actor who I couldn't quite place with a trolley full of equipment while my former colleague signed me in.

Security bloke decided he couldn't be bothered searching my kit so just let me through. About an hour later it all kicked off outside with helicopters, police cars, and half of Wood Lane cordoned off. The irony of me just being let through with no checks wasn't lost on me!

I have a cameraphone photo somewhere of the fountain area of TVC deserted despite it being a time it would usually be busy

Used to often come into somewhere where I used to work. He used to come in disguise (sunglasses, low hat) so that adoring fans didn't leap on him, or something. He was a plank. He also wanted perks for being famous. Snarf.

Aw, OK. I used to work there and just wondered if our paths had crossed at any point in the past. There were some grumpy sods that used to come in from time to time.

Ah the memory of my sister shitting all down the corridor at school and as a result everyone having to leave school by the side entrance.

Obviously I'm saving that story for a suitable occasion.

My voice has gone.

It is confusing. I have to talk to people in my job but I sound like McCarnickle, only softer and quieter. Otherwise I think I've shaken this illness, but yes, for the first time I can remember I am voice-lacking. I am finding it difficult to stridently assert my opinions.

My voice completely went earlier this week and then left me with a fucking horrible sore throat - but only on the left side of my throat. Right side was fine, left was sore from throat up into my mouth. Felt swollen, raw and I really thought I was getting mouth ulcers, but none turned up in the end.

Two days off work this week and I hate taking days off.

I once forgot my PE kit at school but luckily I was not made to wear the awful garments from the lost property cupboard. Unluckily I had to sit in the changing rooms with the lad who had just shat his pants and was waiting to be picked up.

In infant school if you forgot your PE kit, you had to do it in your underwear. Parents these days would have a fucking fit if their children had to do that.

I forgot my PE kit once.

AT secondary, if you forgot your kit, you got handed a pink ballerinas costume to use instead.

Only one person ever forgot their kit during my entire time there. It was... how to say... a little small, and left little to the imagination.

I think the PE teacher was a bit of a pervert.

It would be awful if it was the same day you forgot your underwear. Statistics show that everybody forgets both of those things at least twice during their school days.

Oh my god I'm getting an education on the bus tonight. Of the three people sitting next to me, two are recovering smack addicts on a meth programme and one is just a stoner however her boyfriend ( who is in the jail) is on smack and doesnt get out til Christmas so she's trying to decide where to move to so as he isn't surrounded by people and friends still on smack. Apparently one guy is particularly troublesome and would get him back on smack in a second- he has been worse since he got out of jail for murdering a guy in Irvine. (where my girlfriend is getting posted!).
I'm trying not to listen but I keep getting sucked into the conversation.

Let me know how it grabs you... I bought it in July and haven't played it yet (cos the disc didn't work, then when I got one that did I was too engrossed in Burnout to ever play it), but am thinking of popping in it. I figure I should play it at least once before AC2 comes out :D

You've lived here how long before you discovered how bad Irvine can be? There's a clue in the fact that it's a New Town.

Some bits of it are quite nice, other bits police themselves (they have to, to be fair) & then you've got the "fun" bits in between...

Ass Crud was fun to jump into for a wee while every now & again, but was an exercise in tedium if you played it too long.

The first time I played Assassins Creed I didn't get into it and left it for ages. Started again a while ago and really enjoyed it, I felt like each city I went to I was learning how to use the various investigations better and I will never get bored of jumping around rooftops stabbig guards in the neck with a dagger.
Still not finished it because something else came out but I might give it a shot tonight, I'm quite near the end and want to finish it before the next one is released.

There are three games this generation that have managed to take me to a place other than reality. Ones I've been able to absorb my self into and forget I'm playing a game. They've been: Assassin's Creed, Bully and Fable 2. I love each of them dearly for that.
