Since becoming a dad for the first time i've had little or no time on me xbox, and have recently traded most of my games in to fund some DVD box sets for the missus to watch while i'm at work.
Along with this, i've not renewed my live sub until such time that i can get some us out of it.
Can anyone recommend a game thats got good offline content that is suitable for a bit of pick-up and play as opposed to big sessions in front of the xbox?
Further to this, would anyone be willing to let me have a lend of it for a little while? I'll re-imburse any postage costs via Paypal if needed.
cheers all

Scrounging bugger :p

What sort of games would you consider "pick up and play"? Surely anything can be played in short bursts?

Really? I find games like Mass Effect very difficult to play in short bursts - by the time you've remembered where you are and what you're doing, and gone to Place B, it's time to stop playing. Bang-for-minutes you're better playing racing games or pew pew.

In my 360 games drawer, I'd say Mercs 2, Burny P, Forza 2, Far Cry 2 or erm, that's it for PUAP games. Other than COD4.

Sounds like the Arcade games would fit your requirements.

Or maybe GTA4, if you ignored the campaign and just wandered around the city.

Any other ideas?

Nah, you want Lego Halo... actually, that would be awesome... Halo takes itself a tiny bit too seriously at times, perfect for Lego X style comedy.

Nope. I've owned a few, still do, and after the novelty of the first few it just felt more of the same with no addressing of the flaws that should have been stopped after the first one, and these flaws really are tedious.

I'm not sure what flaws you mean, but it was just exceedingly non-taxing, button mashing monotonous tedium.

Aw, I'm pleased for you Mali. You should probably consider a career in property law after all.

I've only played Lego Indy and while it's very polished and has obviously had a lot of time invested in it, I got bored part-way through one of the early levels and turned it off.

Oh, and as for an offline gaming recommendation - EDF 2017. No online play at all, lots of short missions for quick-play and generally lots of fun. Unless you listen to Dimrill who will tell you otherwise.

Dead Rising. Turn it on, run about killing zombies for about 5 minutes, turn it off.

In my experience, that does sound by far the best way to play Dead Rising.

Speaking of which... I'd pay ooh, say 200 ms points for a patch that opens up the map of GTA4 for twatting about it and disables the phone calls. That's what I call a game.

I just see it as a silly Starship Troopers type of game where I'm the hero for saving each city from aliens, despite the fact that I've just levelled every building in sight.

:this: & you can pick up sets of arcade games (the ones that used to come with the consoles) for around a fiver in Gamestation. The one with Pacman CE is awesome.

Come round mine tonight and take your pick of anything I've got. I'm going to be busy with FM3 and MW2 for the foreseeable future. I have Dead Rising and EDF2017 at least.
