Hello!
For the first time in a while we've got some cash in the BeexFund, so it's time for some advertising.
I figured that rather than linking people straight to the rather boring Board (hoho) index, we should like them to a page, or a post, all about what this place is.
So (and I'm expecting that this will be an absolute car-crash of uselessness (glares at the usual suspects) but I've got the serious smiley and everything, mods) what should it say?

Also, as adwords seem to be fucking useless, where should we be advertising?

bruceongames.com?

Hrm, I honestly can't think of anything to put that isn't going to seem.. off-putting. Like the idea of having a handy directory of in-jokes.

And whatever you say, people are still going to judge whether it's worth joining in by looking at the first few active topics.

I wasn't thinking of going that far, TBH.

I'm fine with that. Can it go on a page that links off to the forum registration, forum unregistered browsing, and the site?

Given the posts in this thread so far should it not just point here ?

(I think a lot of the forum can actually be show in the way that you get a post like Mimi's followed by End of an era , followed by someone else and if you found the first one slightly funny the 3rd one down is laugh out loud funny)

The other alternative would be an edited version of the evolution of Burtank

We shoud have something like, oh I dunno, a sheep in a smoking jacket complaining as his uptojumpers.co.uk is receiving more inquiries about computer games than cardigans and make him talk with a funny accent. And have wheels for back legs.

Or something.

Since its a sheep which type of accent should it have and should it be voiced by someone on the forum ?

It can have a French accent.

And Mimi can voice it as she probably owns some hats and french people also own hats so Mimi is probably a French.

Just stop the thread here, edit it down to a page deep, and post a screenshot on the site. That'll do.

You're bloody doing it wrong! It's easily the cheapest advertising you'll get if you want people to actually click on the thing. You need a decent keyword list for the campaign.

I was one of the people who pushed for donations because I only think it's fair. This is a community and voluntary anonymous contributions should be encouraged. No icons, no £2 a month, no secret forums. Just the occasional copper when you have some cash *if* you feel the need to contribute.

What Grim.. does with the excess money is down to him. I do know of one forum that uses excess cash to buy people a beer when there is a big meet. I think that's a splendid idea but so is Google. But Google is also a good way to piss away money if you don't get it right. I should know, it took me a year to get the hang of it and about five hundred quid!
