Kind of, all in one place, but that's doing it a big disservice.

The spell checker is fucking awesome. It checks whole sentences rather than words, so the dude type "icland is an icland" and it changed it (without him needing to do anything) to "Iceland is an island". Superb.

So I no longer get to feel and look like an intermalectual thanks to my careful typing and good spelling? Bah! Also, drunk posts are going to be slightly less entertaining through this format.

Other than that, sounds good! Shall give it a whirl.

Placing the proper construction of sentences into the hands of a machine encourages people not to learn how to do so themselves.

Also you end up having shouting matches with your PC about Oxford commas.

I have google wave!

I don't know how. I just had an email saying 'thanks for being an early interest type person, etc...' I can't remember actually ever asking for an account. I tried to a while ago but the site crashed.

But whoo!

Ah, but I have no idea what it is, and I am supposed to be going to bed :D

Hmmm... I shall try and add people when I know what the boogle is going on :D

Yep. is that not the normal amount?

I haven't really had the opportunity to explore.

I have to put in email addresses, so if anyone wants to give it a go, just PM an email address I suppose

Nothing's come through from Mimi, yet. I presume she's gone to bed, or the invitation system is slow and rubbish. Either way, I'm in no hurry, especially being tucked up in bed.

I had gone to bed when you posted that, but I did send your invite before I went to bed. It does say that they aren't always instantaneous on the invite page. Hopefully not too long, though :)

Perhaps I don't understand how this all works....? I thought if someone had invites to give out, they could invite someone who didn't have access to Wave so that person could use it? What have I missed?

I will wait for my email then! I suddenly thought maybe apps domains couldn't have it or something.

You can send the invites to any email address. if the user doesn't have a google account they'll be prompted to create a google screen name when they receive their invite.

Happy to oblige :hat:

Just install the "Gears" thing (gears.google.com) and then you can drag pictures from your iPhoto or the desktop or, I guess, anywhere. And I'm sure it makes many other incredible things possible too, but that would involve reading the instructions.

If you have Snow Leopard, you can download gears here instead: http://mailplaneapp.com/download/google_gears/

Not too sure why I'd expect something in my Gmail account at all actually as it's not linked to my main Google account. :S

If there are any invites spare, one would be appreciated so I can what it's all about. (john[at]consolemad[dot]co[dot]uk). Someone will now point out that writing an email address like that makes bugger all difference and that I'm about to see my spam volume increase....

Well, I have had a bit of a play.

I firstly apologise for the blurb of nonsense aimed at kalmar, grim... and Government Yard - was just testing things out - the pictures, the stalker's map, etc, so excuse the nonsense.

Well, at first impressions it seemed like a glorified messenger service, but the added little 'apps' or whatever they are called (of which there are very few at the moment, but I doubt that will remain that way for very long made me think of Facebook, and the brevity of conversation and piecemeal nature of it made me think of Twitter. I'm not very fond of any of those three things, so...

BUT: I don't find it as demanding as a messenger client (which always seems to be demanding 'talk to me NOW', it isn't anywhere near as hateful as facebook is (at least not at the moment, I have not been poked or asked if I am a pirate or a vampire, or whatever) and I like it more than Twitter as it has the ability to have linear conversations with different groups of people. I could have a conversation with Grim... and Bob about beer, and another conversation about electricity with Kalmar, rather than the one long timeline of mind-burps that is Twitter.

I don't mind Twitter too much, but I find that most conversation gets pushed to the bottom of the pile of twitterings (tweets?) of just one or two active contacts, and I always miss what everyone else says. This just seems to make more sense in that way.

Also, you can now all see my typos in real time :D

I am a bit baffled at having to install google gears to share pictures... I thought they would have built that function in.

Also, if I g to the Google gears page it says my browser isn't supported, but it is and it works fine.
