Just been reading about this and it seems theres two endings, one from the original version from 2007, and a new one that was suggest by spielberg thats going to be in the theatrical release. What version did you watch was it the screener or was it some preview at a cinema kind of thing?

I watched the "old" version. Far as Im aware there are multiple ending shot, two of the original ones were used for screenings (one less widely), and now a new "Hollywood jump scare" ending.

I watched the veruion that was widely shown from 2007 onwards, and not the reshot hollywood ending.

I will be tempted to see this at the flicks, as I understand there are also some pacing improvements and other scares added to the new Hollywood cut, as well as the new ending.

I watched with my housemate on a screener quality with the lights out and it was genuinely scary, very impressed.

I watched this last night, and it is pretty good, quite simple and theres some great techniques to create tension and scariness.

Thought the ending was a bit of a washout.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I thought the whole website thing to describe why they were haunted was flimsy at best.

Smashing film however I was constantly distracted throughout the film by thinking 'mmm, busty'.

The footprints in the trailer looked lik duck footprints. Were they haunted by Howard the Duck?

Some might say having a malevolent entity haunting your house as a bit of a passion killer. However that never stopped Barbara Hershey from getting all nekkid.

Watched the version of Paranormal Activity that's currently "doing the rounds" yesterday.

Yes, it's pretty good for an indie film made on a shoe-string budget.

It really isn't very scary though.

I certainly enjoyed it and the way it slowly built up the tension. Definately worth a watch. 7/10.

Genuinely scarey/unsettling though (like the quotes in the trailer allude to - and those obviously faked scenes of cinema audiences freaking out) ? Nah....

Just watched this, saw the Directors version, rather than the (more jumpy, apparently) theatrical version.

It was pretty creepy, but I don't think it was done that well.

And fuck off, fuck off with the
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
sub-bass thrown about when something 'bad' is about to happen. I don't need you telling me when I need to be scared, okay?

I'd quite like to see the end (and the cut 'daylight' scene) of the Theatrical version. I'm now going to watch The Haunting In Conneticut.

Oh, and there's a Paranormal Activity 2 in the works. Somehow.

In conclusion: Not as good or as scary as Blair Witch.

I much preferred it to the Bore Witch Project, for no other reason than it actually had some decent pacing

The other issue I had with is was that
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
The alarm system didn't work. Not only did it no go off when they ran down the stairs (visibly tripping the PIR sensor in the corner) but it didn't even go off when Busty left the house to sit in the swing. Also, I'd think it would have been a better use of time to cut one of the 'happy' bits (maybe when Mikah was working out, say) and include a not-so-scary demon bit on one of the days toward the end of the film, maybe just the light going on and off and that's it. Because it just got worse and worse and worse so you always thought "ooh, it's going to be worse than last night".

That said, I did like it a lot.

Haunting in Connecticut truly is awful

Im trying not to dwell on criticisms for Paranormal Activity.
Im looking forward to the cinema trip to see the extra parts / hollywood ending.

I think it succeeded as a nice scary film, vageuly original, reasonably well acted, yes glaring holes, but i wanna gloss over them.

I've done a bit of reading around. The original ending sounded utterly pants...

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Busty throws Mikey at the camera and has demon face? Purleez

The one I saw made some sort of sense:

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
She becomes fully possessed, kills Mikey and then sits, rocking for a whole day. Friend shows up, calls cops. Demon, in a moment of comedy genius, unposseses Busty, making her walk towards the freaked out cops with a bloody knife, then slams a door to make them shoot her.

Alright, it makes no sense if you think that the demon 'wanted' Busty, but I preferred to view it as the demon being a supernatural dick. I could almost hear him laughing towards the end.

Youve got it the wrong way round

the one you saw is the original (better) ending

the new one, is the hollywood "extra scares and lulz" ending.

Did anyone else read the article on the makers talking about the piracy of this film? After reading that I refuse to pirate it.

if its not out in your town or indeed country then what choice did we have?

its now on a fairly general release it seems, im going to see the theatrical version on the weekend. i dont feel bad for watching the screener

also, re: INK
According to TorrentFreak, a file sharing news site, Ink was downloaded via BitTorrent 400,000 times in a single week and exposed the film to a large audience, leading to higher DVD and Blu-ray sales in return.[7] Jamin and Kiowa Winans wrote in their newsletter that they had "embraced the piracy" and are "happy Ink is getting unprecedented exposure.

Well done TorrentFreak for cherry picking the positive piracy lines. Read the article.

I watched and enjoyed it last night. Great pacing and decent acting but suffered slightly by all the netizens who yarred it ZOMFGing it up. I expected to shit my pants but I only farted.

Well worth the time it took taking it off my mates flash drive.

Don't forget the sequel to the prequel starring the disabled skydiving team. Para-para-normal Activity.

I was scared when watching, but as soon as the adrenaline wore off I was fine. Didn't get creeped out last night or anything. My wife, however, was still terrified when I left for work this morning.

I meant to watch this last night, but in the end it got too late to watch it [at the cinema].

I may have to stop playing Colonization for one night, fire up the PS3 and watch the movie [at the cinema] tonight instead.

Then....

I go to the bathroom ( brush teeth, get ready for sleep etc)
come back and she is a blubbering mess and wont let me turn lights out, and insists I go to the bathroom with her and check the flat for ..i guess...monsters??!

I love watching scary films with scared people :D
