I have a Gamestation card loaded up with credit for me to pick it up tomorrow.

I haven't been this excited about a game in ages. The wife said to me "We're in town on Monday so why don't you go and pick it up then?"

YES DEAR.

I have no idea why Uncharted 1 got it's hooks so far into me, but I loved every second of it and I am psyched for the sequel.

I only really 'got' Uncharted 1 after the trophy support was added, and made me play again. (Although I still haven't the willpower to complete Crushing)

If people here are willing to try the multiplayer, I'll get it Friday, if not I'll probably wait for cheapness.

I didn't know this has mulitplayer. I've still not got a PS3 headset but I suppose I could try and buy one on the sly before Jen moves back home. Although I'm getting my haircut next month ?:| I might leave this til after Christmas and get it as a birthday present.

(21st January guys, why yes I accept alcohol.)

Mmmm, I am seriously thinking of finally buying a PS3 these days. Why won't they give a release date for The Last Guardian? WHY?

Mine turned up on Wednesday, but I haven't played it - and won't play it, until I finish Uncharted 1. Damnable real life getting in the way of gaming.

Cuntery.

It's here now in my hands but I can't play it yet due to resolving a problem on an Exchange Server and then the mother in law is coming round later and then I have to pick the stepson up from school.

Yes I should be working - but baby can do without shoes for a bit. Or food.

In some good news when I exchanged stuff at Gamestation I got them to price match Cex's trade in prices so I can afford Forza 3 next week as well.

So in the end the wife saw my pet lip and went out with the child and mother in law so I've just played through the first couple of hours.

Some bits are predictable but the game knows it and has a laugh with you about it but in the main it's more of the same, only prettier and more varied so thumbs up.

It's certainly got more character than anything else I have played this year.

Well you know what I mean - it's platforming and shooting only this time there's less jungle.

Played up to chapter 8 now and it's as compelling as the first one. A really frustrating bit in a collapsing hotel where I couldn't figure out where the fuck I was supposed to go has been the only hitch so far.

I thought that as well - interactive movie more than anything at first but the thing about Uncharted games is it feels like a movie worth watching / participating in.

It certainly picks up the pace once the gentle introduction is done with.

My copy has vanished. Royal Mail special delivery form says it was delivered but not where to, and they didn't leave a card. Amazon have offered me a refund. If I'm lucky I'll get the refund and the game. Going to ring Royal Mail in a bit, see if I can track it down.

Amazon are seriously shit - the number of times they've let me down basically means I only ever use them for completely non-urgent stuff that I don't mind waiting for.

However, what amazon should do is send you some clues to the package's whereabouts in some ancient Mongolian text and you can go searching :)

Amazon ALWAYS ALWAYS fuck something up if you want it quickly/on release day. If I want a game on release day, I go to Tesco and buy it physically now. They're fine if I'm not bothered about when it turns up - then it's usually the day after I place the order. Bellends.

It was, at least, only £32 quid. I've told Amazon to send me another copy anyway. Impatience aside, there's no reason I need this right now.

My neighbour had it, he just dropped it in. So to be fair it's naughty Royal Mail rather than naughty Amazon. (It was sent Special Delivery before 1pm too, so it really is shit that they've bungled that.)

So, assuming this pans out, anyone want to buy the second copy I might get next week?

I'll give you £20 for it if you bring it to the Firefly meet.

Also - Amazon delivery is superb - if I ordered Uncharted 2 before midday they'd can get it here this evening. What are you lot on about?

[edit]Coincidently, that's what I did with the first one

I have no beef with Amazon. They sent it Special Delivery and offered me a refund or replacement within an hour of receiving my whiny email. What more could they have done?

I thought the first one was excellent. It made me feel warm inside. If there were ever a game for after dinner on Christmas Day/Boxing Day, Uncharted is it. Stupid amount of uni work to do is keeping me from it, though :(

I'm up to chapter 17 now and it feels like I am in an Indiana Jones fillum. Some really exhilarating set pieces and a plot that skips along nicely.

Few too many points where you have no idea what to do and suffer some pretty unfair deaths mark it down for me but overall it's really wet pull together and even more engaging than the first one.

I enjoyed that bit - especially when you compare it to what comes later when new varieties of bullet sponge enter the fray.

I'm certainly not feeling any 10/10 love for it at the moment - there's too many Dragon's Lair style deaths that you have a micro second to react to. I don't mind a game being hard - but just plain unfair is a right kick in the bollocks.

The good news is they appear to have got rid of quicktime events with the exception of one certain attack but that's just the same evade tactic of two buttons which you can just hammer anyway at waiting for the prompt to come up.

I'll probably finish it today - it's a bloody good game but it isn't half letting itself down at times.

I was beginning to wonder whether it was a case of infinitely spawning enemies.
But yeah, the armoured guys are getting quite annoying, but not as bad as Mr not armoured guy who is completely invulnerable to bullets.

This game is really quite brilliant. Issues you will have are bringing expectations from the first game to the table. It could do with starting a bit faster as the opening hour is a bit slow. it's bigger, better in numerous regards. As far as the unfair deaths - well, I haven't found them frustrating as such due to the consistent autosave and generous checkpointing meaning you're never dumped more than a few moments away from where you died. Sure there are elements of confusion, but I think there will always be an issue with this in such epic third person games - if they spoon fed you too much you'd never want to play it again.

It looks glorious.

All in all, though I haven't finished it - I'm on chapter 25 or thereabouts, it's been a measured and significant improvement on the first game - it hasn't diluted the core gameplay (like GeOW2 did) and it's removed the silly difficulty spikes of the first, which I believe were largely down to the size of the game - this is definitely bigger and better.

Still not started it, but just finished the first one. Brilliant - up until the last chapter, that is. If I ever meet the designer, I will one-shot-kill him in the face. OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I wanted to warn you about the end of the first game without putting you off ;-) But you're right it sucks big time.

There's more supernatural nonsense in 2 as well but it's handled far far better than the first. <--- this is not a spoiler OK. Having said that, I haven't finished it yet so if it does descend into a load/die/reload hell of impossible enemies I'll be booking a flight to wherever Naughty Dog call home and I'll be taking something a lot worse than a tartan skirt to address the issue.
