I've just got a ps3! Hurrah! I've got GHWT to play on it. Hurrah! Except I can't seem to get the guitar controller to be recognised. I managed it on a 40GB PS3 I had but this 60GB one will pay it no heed whatsoever. It could be something to do with firmware maybe? I just updated to 3.01. Perhaps that was a mistake. Anyone else had such problems? I've even tried reassigning the control pad.

Are any of the LEDs on the Guitar lighting up? If so, which ones? There's a sync button on the dongle that you can try also.

There's all the LEDs lighting up and flashing on the guitar. The guitar shouldn't need the dongle right? Or is there one for the guitar as well as drums?

EDIT: Ah so there is..

Yeah, there's one for each and you need both. The guitar one doubles up as a USB hub and has another 2 USB ports on it, so you can plug the drum dongle into that if you need.

Ironic isn't it? Sony use Bluetooth rather than a proprietary approach to wireless control like Microsoft, so anyone should be able to make wireless peripherals for the PS3. Yet expense means that us PS3 owners have to use dongles for our instruments to be wireless (and the Rock Band drums aren't wireless at all), whilst Microsoft gave Activision and MTV/EA special permission to include the proper wireless tech for the 360 versions.

In all seriousness, I'd love a 360 and Rock Band, just so I could play online with people I actually know. But console + game + instruments = much expensive. Especially for stuff I basically already own.

I have a 360 as well as a PS3. I have the superior Rock Band on that.
