Can 1234567890 and I do our game after that? I won't be back in the country until 4th November, though.

Can a mod upgrade me here, so I can post a new topic with the Wedding Scum rules?

Just mulling an idea over, but how would people feel about paying £1 to play MS near to Christmas, with £10 being split between the winners and the change going to charity?

And if the town wins, I have to pay out £75?

The charity thing is just a nicety, tbh - I'm interested to see how much harder people fight when there's something at stake.

Ideally I'd like to do it with £10 per person, but that's a lot of money.
There'd be no fucking killing yourself though, would there?

You had a good reason. I'm still not convinced that townie suicides should be allowed, as you're playing against your win condition.
However, I reasoned that I wouldn't care as long as it wasn't possible for that win condition to change.

In practice, the amount of money available to be won would be pretty negligible, so I don't think it would make anyone take it any more "seriously". Charging £10 would obviously work from this point of view, but then a lot of people wouldn't play.

Basically, if you're going to a "pay to play" game then just give the money to charity and screw prizes. Nobody would begrudge a quid or two for the pleasure. You aren't going to get people to take it any more or less seriously than they already do imo.

Collecting all the money from people before the game starts would be a bigger hassle than actually running the game though.

I doubt I would play if I had to pay and the money wasn't part of a prize fund. (I might consider it if it went for server hosting or something)

That's a bit close to the 'unique way this forum was founded' for my liking.

Give all the money to charity, but let the winner(s) choose the charity.

Well it's not like it would be mandatory participation.

:this: , although make sure to specify that charities such as "Myp's Xmas Present Fund For Impoverished Family Members" are expressly disallowed :)

I wouldn't be against it, as an experiment, but I can't really see how it would improve the game (or what aspect you're trying to improve). Surely it's mainly going to put people off bothering, and it's not like we're massively oversubscribed.

With a low value like that a lot of it's going to get eaten by PayPal, plus there's extra hassle for someone administrating it.

Maybe make it so that the losers must buy the winners beer at the next meet thing?

[edit] Actually, sounds like I am mostly against it, on reflection :)

I have, alas, probably left this a little late. Been terribly busy at work and at home.

Unless we start tomorrow and reckon we can get it finished by the end of next week? Or I can just pass and let someone else run it.

What say the good people of Beex?

I was wondering why you thought the run-up to your wedding would be a good time to take on extra responsibility ;)

@Myp: I thought you'd bagsied one for about six months time?

Nope, we're just putting the finishing touches to ours. I'm happy to run it a week or so after I get back from the States.

I say run a sign up, start, and if it goes on too long/takes too much time hand over the running to someone else. I may well sit out a round after my stunning success last time, so would be able to help.

Hello my darlings. I may need something at home to take my mind off work, and I had a grand old time last year (christ, eighteen months ago now? Le sob) playing the first few games. What's going on now? I may throw my hat into the ring.

Hello all

Ive been in the queue to run a game for mega ages now, just ive never had the time.
I find myself working from home the next 2 weeks, would anyone be up for a game?

I can either do a classic mafia scum, or try to recall my plans for an Alien Scum just to be different.
Depends how people feel about that ruleset...and indeed if its still attached on the forum pages.

Let me know

My Aliens rules are on page 7 of this thread, version 1.3

I just re read them and although its needs people to supend their disbeleif I think itll make for a fun game.

If it is indeed ok for me to run a game, Ill need a bit of help in the form of the post count tool and any other cool stuff that I have no idea how to use (such as assigning roles, if there is a method other than just "random" for this like an excel spread sheet).

cheers

I wrote these rules up.

I don't intend to run them any time soon, however. Just something to do.

ForumScum

ZOMG! The mods have gone potty, randomising peoples usernames. Grim... has gone off in a strop. Who will save Beex?

4 Moderators - Kalmar, Craster and Myp and Mr Chris*: You can talk to your fellow mods in the "SEEKRIT FORUM". Once per night, one of you can ban a player, removing them from the game. Your win condition is Modz.

1 Haxxor: Once per night you can hax a Mod's computer, and stop it from turning on. This will stop the mod from being able to ban anyone. You have to choose between Kalmar, Myp, Craster and Mr Chris. Your win condition is Beex.

1 Defector: Once per day you can PM the GM and choose some lies to tell to another player, who will leave Beex is disgust and go off to a new forum. Your win condition is Splinter.

1 Gaywood: Gaywood can only tell the truth. Your win condition is Beex.

3 number whores: Dimrill, Alb1n0 and Mr Dave - you all play 360 together to make your numbers higher, and as such can discuss what is going on all you like. Your win condition is Beex.

X regular posters: You can vote during the day phase for a player you think is being suspicious. If enough of you do so Grim... will grudgingly come back for long enough to ban them. Your win condition is Beex.

Win conditions
Modz: Modz ban enough people to take democratic charge, and the defector is banned.
Beex: All Modz and the defector are banned
Splinter: Half a win for defecting five people, a full win for defecting everyone.

*SEEKRIT MOD POLICE, isn't he?

Oh I meant to say that I would do a normal game with normal rules since I home all day just now anyway. How would I go about doing such a thing? Would peple want to play sometime in the next couple of weeks?

Sounds intersting Grim... I feel fortunate that this forum is so peaceful compared to the crazy fiction you've invented there. ;)

You're more than welcome to use those rules if you want.

As for "how", Mods will set you up with topic-making abilities and such, and then you just PM everybody their roles and off we go.
