I'm getting my DC modded to play Jap and US titles - I've found a few places that seem to be fairly reasonable price-wise on imports (well, compared to eBay), but does anyone have any recommendations on places to try or avoid?

Also if you have any Jap or US Dreamcast games you want to sell, give me a shout - I might well be interested in what you've got.

There seemed to be quite a few Japanese-only shooters that get raved about but as that's not my thing, I'm going to recommend Seaman (just make sure it comes with the microphone) and Dead or Alive 2:LE, which had a few extra bits and bobs compared to the Pal release.

Not to mention it will also let you play ("legally obtained copies" -Ed.), although the best versions of those are self-booting negating the need for the boot disc in the first place.

So, in other words, you're wasting your money having it chipped.

Hallo, chipping/modding a Dreamcast is unnecessary as the Utopia boot disc will allow you to play anything from any region ever.

Ah well, too late. Part of the modification is that it can pump out PAL games at 60Hz, not sure if Utopia can do that. Also, no need for me to swap discs around: convenience win!

I nor DrG never had problems with 60/50hz stuff on our huge array of TVs. And the vast overwhelming majority of our ("legally obtained games" -Ed.) were self-booting which means you didn't need the boot disc, they essentially had that code built in so it was read when you started the system up.

In fact, the only games I had that needed the boot disc were actually legally obtained copies, namely my NTSC and NTSC-J games.

Oh well, I AM SURE IT IS EXCELLENT AND WILL PROVIDE HOURS OF FUN.

I made some of them self-booting though, although increasing as the Dreamcast warez scene progressed they were almost all like that. I still have a legal licence for Discjuggler somewhere, which was the only burning app at the time that could make selfbooting copies.

Seaman sounds awesome, and the only experience I have of it is this:

I'm sorry, I spelled 'ejaculate' wrongly.

Just out of interest, where's the best place to acquire ["legally obtained" -Ed] games for the Dreamcast? Not sure I'd bother, mind, as the last time I looked at Roms and that sort of thing, I downloaded the entire set for the Megadrive, spent about a minute playing each game and felt enormously unfulfilled by the experience. When I buy games, I'll tend to play them a lot more.

I have an NTSC Puyo Puyo game for DC. It's really good. I want to get Cosmic Smash.

Good console.

That reminds me of a thread topic I was going to start.

Try Snesorama,it's where I get all my PS1 stuff from.
They'll use Rapidshare type sites for all the file hosting and they'll most likely be split files, so you'll need to download all the files and then extract them for burning.

I got Legend Of Mana that way and it is indeed ace.
