So, Band Hero then. Will "be functionally similar to the features of Guitar Hero 5, including bands composed of any combination of four instruments, drop-in/drop-out play, in-song menus to change difficulty and instrument, and additional multiplayer modes compared to Guitar Hero 5's "Rockfest". Taylor Swift, Adam Levine (of Maroon 5), and the band No Doubt have been confirmed to be playable avatars in the game. Artists performed motion capture for their in-game avatars."

One has to ask: why? Why two games doing exactly the same things released within months of each other? Activision are pumping that money spigot with all their might. Some tracks:

Now I've posted this I bet you've all been talking about it in another thread while I've been away or something.

It's no different to Lego Rock Band, really, but I don't see you complaining about that. It's more aimed at children and young adults than us lot. I won't be buying either of them.

Lego Rock Band lets you export all the songs back into RB2 for a seamless experience though.

Not the point I was making. I have no problem with companies broadening their portfolios to try to catch people outside of the traditional Rock Band/Guitar Hero target market (ie 25-40 year old men ). I won't complain that it's yet another game to buy because it's not really aimed at me; I don't have to buy it.

Anyone who does buy it obviously isn't bothered about too many games in such a short space of time. Either that or they have more money than sense.

According to the buzz, you can export the GH:WT and GH:SH into this. Don't know about BH to GH5 though.

Plus I didn't know Roy Orbison, Poison and Bowie were down with the kids. *makes stupid finger sign*

'Free Your Mind' would have been much better. I suppose they're just trying to rinse the Jackson $$ for all they're worth right now.

Poison being on one of these makes me happy, but - solo aside - it's a bit guitaristically boring. 'Unskinny Bop' or 'Fallen Angel' would have been far more like it.

Hey, if we're talking album tracks, I'll happily take that, 'Life Goes On' and 'Come Hell or High Water', and play them non-stop.

Possibly not; if it's anything like the track packs, the game will come with a single-use XBLA/PSN code to download the tracks.

This and Lego Rock Band are looking like pretty good games for the Singstar music market. I'll definitely be picking up LRB when it comes out and will be keeping an eye on this one, too. (although I secretly have my fingers crossed that the songs I'm most interested in will come to RB at some point.)
