Anyone played this? It's a fairly low budget driving game based on the reportedly famous car chase show from Germany. I'd never heard of it either, but it's sort of a German CHiPS, with the stories revolving around a team of elite highway cops fighting crime and driving blimmin' fast.

The game itself is a bit like the old World's Scariest Police Chases game on the PSX, with a healthy dose of NFS3 and 4 and just a dash of the truck driving sims. There's a big network of interconnected highways, country roads and dirt tracks, and you drive between various points either chasing suspects or against the clock to investigate crimes. Then you get a cutscene (usually of the outside of a location while you hear dialogue between the characters) and move on to the next bit. It's best to think of it as a weird street racing game, as every mission is just a variant of 'drive here against the clock'.

What appealed to me was the Europeanness of it. Instead of being Sheriff Buford T. Buttfuck of the Redneck Valley County Sherriff's Department as in practically every other cop game, driving around in wallowing great Crown Victoria chasing equally enormous barges; here you're driving high-powered Mercs and BMWs on nice, pleasant German roads and autobahns, going around roundabouts and grinning.

It's pretty one dimensional and you'd probably finish it once and never touch it again, but for the budget price it seems like a decent enough romp. There's demos on Live, has anyone partaken?

Not yet but I'm aware of the show from watching "World's Greatest Stunts" or some shit on Channel 5. I'll have a look.

I played the demo of both games and thought they were hilariously bad, but for a fiver or so I'd be tempted.

Yup, that's exactly the context in which I'm considering these. And even then, only because they're so outrageously German (I'm looking forward to the mission where you crash through a glass coffee table factory).
