Fourth RROD. Fuck this. I'm moving over to the dark side: free online gaming, inbuilt WiFi, Bluray movies and hardware that doesn't die if you so much as sneeze on it.

If anyone's interested, here's my Dear John letter. Adios, biatch.

You know the PS3 isn't that much more reliable, right?
Are you selling your 360 games?

isnt the failure rate for the xbox meant to be something daft like 2 thirds now?

Says who? Watchdog, or those statistically biased third-party repairers Eurogamer interviewed?

You only ever hear about the ones that go wrong... No one is going to start a thread saying "My Xbox 360 is working fine and has been since I had it. Carry on!"

There's the bias right there!

Really? Nobody I know has had any complaints.

I've got way too many games to toss the system. I'll get it repaired and keep it, but I wont be buying any more games for it, that's for sure

I'm currently on my fifth 360.

Oddly enough, Watchdog's usual brand of bonkers 1-sided reporting engendered feelings of sympathy for Sony in me. Not to the point where I'd buy one or anything.

There's a graph somewhere. It's about half, so expect two of your PS3s to break, if your unlucky streak continues.

I think I saw the same graph. The PS3 had surprisingly high failure rates, to such a level that in another industry they'd fail spectacularly as a company within six months, but the 360 was twice as bad. I prefer the 360 as a games machine, but the PS3 hardware is unquestionably better.

The wii, meanwhile, continues to be far more reliable than both.

And it never gets turned on.
I got one RROD on my old 360 (which I sold to Mr Chris), so far the Elite is fine, as is the PS3 and Wii.
However, the 360 easily gets used 100 times more than the other two put together (no exaggeration).

I'm the same other than the 360 is used 100 times more just for gaming. The PS3 is the media player of choice so it gets a lot of use that way.

What he said. And as I've renewed my Lovefilm sub, am watching all of 30 Rock, and am not currently hooked on any 360 games, my PS3 is getting far more use of late. Overall it's probably 50/50, maybe even 60/40 to the PS3.
