Right. Bit complex this one so bear with me.

In about two weeks (when my AMD retention arrives for my new board and chip for the water cooling) I will have for sale -

1. EVGA Nforce 680i motherboard - 6 usb, firewire header, onboard sound, onboard dual gigabit lan etc, etc.Triple SLI, too.
1. Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe E4500 @ 2.2ghz with overclocking options.
1. Foxconn Alienware CPU cooler (clone of the arctic freezer Xtreme).
1. (optional) Noctua 92uF CPU cooler.

OK, this could get confusing, so here's the deal.

As it stands the motherboard is flashed with an Alienware DMI bios. This means that I can give you a free, licensed, genuine copy of Vista Home Basic 32bit.

Due to me changing boards I can no longer use the OS or license, so I will be utlizing my Win7 which comes next month. Until then I will use my Windows XP MCE on the machine.

Now. This is all great shit right? I mean, a free copy of Vista 32? well sort of. The bios is an older Rev and will not work with Soundblaster cards. This is not a problem of course, because you have a 7.1 HD audio system on board the mobo. However, should you want to add a Xfi or something you can, but you will need to reflash off the Alienware bios replacing it with the EVGA one at which point the Vista will no longer load as it reads from the bios for confirmation that it is a genuine Alienware board.

Prices.

The E4500 sells on ebay for around £40-£50. It is the older 65nm CPU but overclocks to 2805 from my very own experience. If leaving it at stock speed it will be fine. If you want to push it up (and I can leave it OCed in the bios AS IS) you will need the Noctua as the Foxconn did not cut it temp wise.

The mobo sells for £70 + being that it is triple SLI.

For the mobo, Foxconn cooler, E4500 CPU and Windows Vista HB32 with license I want £60. Shipping will be about £7.

For the mobo, Noctua cooler, E4500 OC to 2805mhz and Vista HB blah blah I want £75 + shipping.

Board will be ready to ship out in about two weeks, payment will be required then.

I think this post makes it pretty obvious he is asking for £70/80 per piece, otherwise why would he be adding it up?

Of course as Malia says, he has said that first offer secures and afaik this is legally binding, so it's all Malia's for a tenner and the rest of the thread is redundant.

That post is saying how much it all costs new.

The bit I quoted before shows how much he wants for the varous bits.

Ah, I see what you mean... JC is confused about the meaning of "what its worth", hence the confusion. He seems to think "what its worth" refers to the amount he originally paid for it new, when it obviously isn't worth that any more...

Obviously not, which is why I said the below.

However, the CPU is still around £70 new. I don't know why, but that's the cheapest I can find it for. The motherboard? Well they were on clearance on a site about two months back for about £130. Remember, we are talking about a £300+ when new motherboard with triple SLI and overclocking options out the ass.

JC, is all that stuff much better than my amd x2 3800? I'm too lazy to look. I know it's probably a bit better, but not sure by how much.

I can't really upgrade the CPU without getting a whole motherboard too (as mine is a socket 939), but would like something a bit snappier. The PC I've already got has OKish RAM and a GFX card that'll do.

Are you using DDR2?

Let me see if I can find any benchmarks on the two cpus for you :)

I thought it was pretty clear - he wants either 60 or 75 quid depending on which processor and cooler you want.

[edit] OK, maybe not that clear. There's one motherboard, one processor, and a choice of two coolers?

Right, found some benchmarks. I have highlighted the 2 cpus right up to their scores.

Benchmarks are here -

Your clock speed standard is 1644mhz the E4500 is 2200mhz. Hence why the score is a lot higher.

However, being the nice honest person I am. Before you go ahead and replace anything first of all see what your options are. You may find that for around the £60 mark you can put in a far better AMD chip that will perform about as well as replacing your entire mobo and chip.

If you are on the old AM2 motherboard then yes, buying my shit will give you a nice performance boost. If you are using an AM2+ board then you can put in some of the later chips that will perform as well as the E4500 without all the headaches :)

Kalmar. Yes. The base foxconn cooler will run at stock speeds fine. If you want the board and chip left with it's 605mhz overclock that will need the Noctua putting on to keep temps down.

Also, before anyone buys this.. Get CPUZ and make sure your ram is not 667mhz. This board needs 800mhz DDR2 that will likely show in CPUZ as 400mhz and the 667 stuff 333mhz. It's critical you don't try and run the board and chip with 667 because the E4500 has a 800mhz bus.

For the mobo, Foxconn cooler, E4500 CPU and Windows Vista HB32 with license I want £60. Shipping will be about £7.

For the mobo, Noctua cooler, E4500 OC to 2805mhz and Vista HB blah blah I want £75 + shipping.

OK to clarify.

Offer one. You get the 680i motherboard, Foxconn cooler (the clone of the Arctic) with a 92mm fan on and the E4500 CPU. This will come clocked stock speed of 2200mhz (I'll simply clear cmos). £60 for the lot, plus £7 shipping. The motherboard would get that on Ebay on it's own.

Offer two. Same motherboard, same CPU, different cooling system and I leave the system as it stands right now with a 605mhz overclock, bus speed uppage and voltage uppage. This means the motherboard will arrive with an overclock to 2805mhz. It will also come with the Noctua big brick cooler with a 92mm fan on, possibly two if I have two laying about (it can be set up with either one or two). The Noctua cooler means the price is more. For this setup I want £75 plus the shipping of £7 or so.

BOTH come with a copy of Vista Home Basic Alienware OEM edition because the bios is DMI to Alienware so this version of Vista will install on it. If you, for any reason, flash the bios to the STOCK EVGA ONE the operating system will no longer work as it is locked down to Alienwares ONLY. So don't even attempt to go around installing this OS on any other machine because it will not work. It reads the DMI header from the bios of your computer when installing.

Offer three. MaliA gets the lot for a tenner, since his was the first offer and I clearly stated that "first offer secures", and I'd hate to break a contract.

Offer four. Fuck off.

Any way. This should make it a bit easier to see.

Firstly this is the motherboard. Air of caution this is a full sized ATX motherboard and will not fit a case designed for mini ATX motherboards. A good way to tell is to see how many PCI slots your existing board has. It also requires an 8 pin extender from the power supply. Older psus only had a 4 pin. This board needs at least 450w+ to operate.

And here are the coolers. On the left is the Foxconn. It has some heatpipes going into a radiator and a single fan in the middle.

To the right is the Noctua which is not only larger, thicker and more solid but it allows a fan to be bolted on both sides creating a wind tunnel and hence, cooling to the point that a large overclock can be kept in check.
