As some of you may know my Dell monitor went pop a couple of weeks ago. Since then I've been subsisting on borrowed laptops, WAP, and now an iPhone.

I would like to replace my monitor now though and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for something that I could use for both a tv and my pc.

I'm sure there must be some lovely tv or monitor where I could just use a remote to switch between inputs. Does anyone run anything like this, and would I need extra kit like a video card for my pc (or can it connect with the serial port)?

HD ready would be nice as then I could run the egg box on it, and 20-25 inches would fit nicely in the corner of my room.

Um... lots and lots... and lots of LCD TVs have a VGA input.... like practically all of them.

You could use one of them?

I've been looking for something similar myself. I had my eye on the Samsung T240HD as it's got 2x HDMI, VGA, DVI, Component, Phono and 2x SCART inputs on a 24" widescreen freeview set. Asda were flogging them at 200 and I would've snapped one up if I could've just found one, but they were a like hen's teeth. There was an LG of similar specs, but I can't remember the model number.

Ah, it was the LG M2294D 22" widescreen. 200 Yuggoths from Amazon or 170 Shub Nigguraths from Misco (delivery not included)... *starts searching the settee for pennies*

You sod. You sodding sod. I've gone and ordered this Samsung SM2333HD now because of this thread. Plus that it's been reduced by a good whollop too.

I have the 26" Samsung, the T260HD. It was £280 in Asda, but I think that deal is long gone. It's lovely, and as Dimrill has listed, has significantly more pixels than a TV of the same size (it's 1920x1200) but significantly more inputs than any monitor.

The Parcelforce tracking for my monitor says "Location: General Parcel" Where the heck is that?

Also their clipart for "Send a parcel onlice" is a spunking cock.

I insist that Dimrill talk more about money. I love his currencies.

Bear in mind that I wouldn't know an Escort from a Volkswagen Golf, so pretty much any car in camoflage color would have worked on me.

This was never answered. I bought the same monitor. You are.

I weep tears of drunken happiness to be in the same room as the gorgeous monitor fucker. :'(

Now all that you're missing is an Amiga RGB to VGA convertor, and you're set!

Remember kids, the latency on some of those panels will be appalling for gaming and PC use. And often the manufacturers will not quote the true latency, just the panel latency.

Most modern AV pieces of equipment have settings to compensate (e.g they can delay the audio to match the delayed video) but for gaming you are basically looking at running several frames behind on some of the larger cheap panels.

When we did the 8 Bit Challenge last time around, I could only get my best times on the MBP's built in panel as my large Dell's latency (this was before I had it replaced) kept on meaning I got poor scores.
