-Slow, shambling zombies. Spreads like a virus/bite transmission. No, you are not a zombie, that would be stupid.

-Serious examination of a national crisis or natural disaster. Humans and a lack of order are a bigger threat than the undead. Think Hurricane Katrina, Children of Men, Dawn of the Dead NOT Resident Evil, Return of the Living Dead, zombie shooter-type games.

-Game is about survival. Scavenging resources, exploring the area, dealing with other survivors, and managing a “shelter” of sorts are the main focus of the game. More on this later.

-Game is open-ended. There are characters and events that could happen, but the story depends on where you go, what you do, and who you meet. Of course, there’s a lot more to this and we'll go into more details as time goes on.

Can I be the first to say (in this thread) that I want this game, please?

Is it a MMORPG? If so, does death-to-zombism result in that player having to start over and their ex-avatar shambling around from that point on? Because that would awesome - one of the best things about Nethack is stumbling across corpses of your previous characters.

Return of the Living Dead is the finest zombie movie ever, and I don't care what anyone says.

I wasn't aware of any "shooter-type game" based on it, though.

But colour me interested, although not if it's a MMORPG. MMORPGs can fuck off. MMORPG. MMORPG.

Sounds like that game we were talking about a while ago in the Zombie thread.

I don't like MMORPGs either. But a simple, goal-free world populated entirely by the shambling corpses of other players could be fun. No gold/resources to harvest, no quests, no levelling, just "don't get killed by the shambling corpses (or other players who don't want to get eaten either)".

Thanks to the tediously predictable lack of imagination of about a million game and film makers over the last few years, we'll soon reach saturation point, and end up going for about forty years with not a single zombie-related thing. Although frankly I'm already tired of hearing about the bloody things.

That actually sounds awesome fun. You could just log in now and again and edge closer to where the living are. AI would control your zombs in aimless circling patterns when you're not logged in. When you are - "GURGH!" - If shot when offline, your supposedly dead corpse can always get up again and shamble on under your nefarious control. Me like.

:this:

No more zombie films for a while now, please. I'm especially looking at you students and indie film makers. It's LAZY.

I remember kojima saying he wanted to do a similar thing but that you stay as a character as you turn into a zombie and try to get people as a zombie until you died. But of course he seems to be getting paid silly money to produce the same shite over and over.

It already exists :) Though I'm intrigued to see what they do with this.
