Morbidly, we made a list of celebrities likely to die in 2008. Names in red are people who have successfully shuffled off this mortal coil. Entries are now closed, but here's Myoptika to explain and the lovely contestants! *wild audience applause*

Myoptika@SomewhereElse wrote:
Ok, here's the rules: you get to pick ten people you think are going to cark it in the next 11 and a half months. You get eight normal picks (ie oldies) and two wildcards (young ones who might go off the rails). A point for each of yours that shuffles off, and two points for either of the wildcards. I am sure I entered this... I was a little past the cut-off date, but was allowed entry... not that anyone I said has died, but still...

(I use the ellipsis too often)

Well done to whomever selected Charlton Heston: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7332960.stm

EDIT: Looks like only Squirt and Curiosity selected him. Updated the 1st post.

Time to get the semi-automatic "hunting" rifle off of him, then.

I don't think he was a horrible man in real life, just incredibly foolish and in a second childhood in his old age. Heston was actually quite liberal when he was a young man. Despite being a spokesman for (and being exploited by) the odious NRA, I still retained some affection for him. Mainly because of a wonderful and thoughtful many-paged afterwood he wrote for one of the Master & Commander novels. Which is my fave series of books.

It would be a better tribute if that wasn't footage from the second apes film - that's James Franciscus, not Charlton Heston. Not a bad track though, although I couldn't really get into that Jews album - suddenly the critics were raging about them, but it's not a patch on the likes of Bright Flight.

I note myself and Morte both have Prince Phillip.

EDIT: a bit more research, and it might be footage from Apes 1 & 2 spliced together. I honestly can't tell - when they cast Franciscus for his resemblence to Heston, they didn't go far wrong.

Oh i know it wasnt heston just an excuse to show planet of the apes and silver jews.

bright flight is my favourite jews album, but Ive liked american kindness and tanglewood numbers, although the new one is absolutely terrible, only 2 decent songs on it.

*bump*

Considering how late in the year it's getting I thought I'd drag this back up. My records show that Curiosity and Plisskin are drawing for 1st place with 2 deaths each. Unless I've missed some, which is always possible.
