Either I've fallen through a timewarp or Wispa Gold's are back on sale.

Last I heard Cadburys had said they wouldn't be able to make them as they'd sold the machine that made them and a replacement would be uneconomic.

Would post a picture but am on my phone!

Maybe someone found an old box at the back of the store room.

Nope. Seen in two shops now. Limited editions which means they are testing the market.

I can only assume the Wispa re-launch has been such a succes they have spent the money needed to make the Gold bars as well.

Apparently the original Wispa relauch was easy as Cadburys still had the machine. They probably wouldn't have done it otherwise.

It's New Product Development that stops the confectionery market from stagnating

While I agree with you it's also true that many favourites have been sullied down the years and there hasn't been that much innovation of late.

Wispa Gold was innovative at the time and presumably it must still be if Cadburys were admitting they would have trouble making them again.

It's good to see someone putting a snack back on the shelf that hasn't been messed with. You don't even get the fun of foil on a Kit Kat these days FFS. And don't even get me started on Lion bars!

Someone who presumably wanted to make a similar bar for another market. Oddly enough I'm currently doing some videos for a company who are selling some of their machinery to China. Again some of these machines are very specific.

I'll never live to see the day the Secret is brought back.

The one with tiny strands of choccy with the soft chocolate marshmallow inside.

Oh, and Schweppes Schizan or whatever it was called (agave cactus flavored fizzy drink).

Hopefully by saying that they will both make a return. Oh and Quattro too.

It's not so much what they charge 'cos choccy has costed that much for about ten years straight. It's the fact you get about a third of what you used to for the same coin.

Nice one.

Oh, and when I was in Iran this summer, I saw a shop that sold Ritter Sport. Now there was a blast from the past. I didn't buy any, though, in case those actual bars were from the 80s.

Oh, now I have to politely disagree there, as I've sampled a few of those lately and very much approve. Mind you I don't like the peanut butter ones.

God I loved those.

Also, Ritter Sport is big in Europe. You also see them sold in sports shops over here.

Ritter Sports are pretty common over here as well, although I don't think I can ever remember seeing anyone actually buying one. Maybe they really haven't been in production since the 80's and shops are just too lazy to actually take them off the shelves.

That reminds me. I can't find Cadbury's Caramel Fingers any more. I don't know if they were some sort of limited edition, or whether it was a case of the stupid British not liking awesome food again.

Not exactly sweeties, but if we're on about things that should be brought back.... McDonalds should do the McRib again, I loved those.

I used to buy Ritter sports (one with nuts I think) from the shop at the hospital by work. They were pretty nice and there was plenty in the pack. I think it was about 80p

Those were lovely, and only seemed to be out for about a fortnight. But they looked like a pain in the arse to manufacture, and they weren't exactly a practical snack, what with delicate strands of chocolate and globs of creamy gunk going everywhere if you so much as looked at one.

I saw Wispa Gold bars in Asda today, and just swooped on three for now, to last until the weekend who am I kidding they'll be gone by tomorrow.

I haven't had one yet though, so can't comment as to whether they taste the same as years ago.

Peanuts are only ever any good on their own, if you start mixing them with things like butter or chocolate then you can fuck off.
