Who's going to the Eurogamer Expo in Leeds?

I'll be attending on one of the days (I've got a press pass for both days). So, who wants to go and on which day? I'll go on that day and we can have a beer and that. Come on, nerds!

Details are here:

http://expo.eurogamer.net/

A press release I received earlier:
Quote:
Games industry shows widespread support for Eurogamer Expo 2009

Press Release
Brighton, England, 12th August 2009: Eurogamer is pleased to announce that 12 of the games industry's biggest publishers have signed up for this year’s Eurogamer Expo.

Sony, Microsoft, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft will all bring playable games to the event, along with Eidos, SEGA, Capcom, Konami, 2K Games, Bethesda, Namco Bandai and Deep Silver.
The Eurogamer Expo will take place in two cities this year to give even more gamers the opportunity to attend. The Leeds event is being held at The Royal Armouries on 27th and 28th October. The London event will be hosted at Old Billingsgate on 30th and 31st October, as part of the London Games Festival. The Expo is in partnership with hmv.

Games playable at the event will include Christmas blockbusters Assassin’s Creed 2, Halo 3: ODST, Borderlands, Tekken 6 and Left 4 Dead 2. Expo visitors will also get to go hands-on with games slated for release in 2010 such as Dante's Inferno and Aliens vs. Predator. More games will be announced during the build-up to the event.

"This year’s event is coming together really well," said Rupert Loman, managing director of Eurogamer. "We’ve got some fantastic games on show and ticket sales are miles ahead of last year. With such great support from the industry we’re on course to making the Eurogamer Expo the UK’s best gaming event.”

The Indie Games Arcade will also make a return to the Eurogamer Expo in 2009. A raft of well-known and not so well-known indie titles will be on show, including games from Tunatech, Introversion, Robert Fearon, Hayden Scott-Baron, Rudolf Kremers and Alex May.

Visitors to the Expo will also gain entry to the GamesIndustry.biz Career Fair. Some of the world's leading games studios will attend including Crytek, Starbreeze and Team17. In addition the BAFTA surgeries will return, giving students and graduates the chance to discuss their career options directly with experienced games industry professionals.

Tickets for the Eurogamer Expo are priced at £6 per day. They are available now via http://expo.eurogamer.net.

Exhibitor space at the event is now limited. All last minute enquiries should be directed to David Lilley: [email protected] / +44 (0)7779 224 138

Yep, we can play Aliens Vs Predator! Yay!

NOTE: If you're going to the Southern leg, you're automatically classifying yourself as a fairy.

Both the southern and the northern ones are too far for me to be arsed.

Not to mention the date on which they occur.

Maybe, I'm on jury service that week though. Do they have juries at weekends?

Leeds is way too South man.

Also, it's a computer game expo, attended by computer game fans? Why would one want to go to such a thing?

I can think of better ways of spending my time than queuing up for hours with individuals of questionable aroma* to play games that will be out in a month or so afterwards.

Hold Beexpo '09 in a pub in edinburgh instead, that would smell fairly similar, is more authentically North, and I might be tempted to attend.

The only expo thingy that's ever looked particularly interesting was Insert Coin & even that seemed like a bit too much hassle just to play old classics properly (wasn't too fussed about playing the newer games).

@Kalmar, I would prefer to never set foot in Edinburgh again :DD

If myp took a cut out head of me on his honeymoon in order to congratulate me on my becoming older, I'd be disturbed amused. Particulary if there were pictures of him eating and licking 'me'.

Live '95 - it's not for dead people (god I miss PC Attack, and not just because someone has to)

I went to the Future Entertainment Show in 1998. It was terrible. It was almost entirely Playstation stuff in terms of games, there was nobody there interesting from the mags or anything to talk to, and I bought a copy of Syndicate Wars (so that the crushing disappointment could continue at home)

Anyway yes - I have looked at my diary and it would appear I will be elbowing a load of emo fucks out of the way on the Monday whilst watching Green Day at Sheffield so the Wednesday (28th) is best for me.

If you're still up for it jonarob despite the litany of grumps on here then let me know and I'll book myself a ticket with the rest of the plebs.

No, no, no. Bezzie is someone from this forum who plays Xbox Live games with others. You cannot have a Bezzie on their own.

I've booked my ticket for the 28th - nerdlinging ahoy.

I asked the wife if she wanted to come just out of courtesy and to make sure I had a free pass. I told her what it was and asked her if she wanted to attend - "Do I fuck" was the answer - it wasn't even a rhetorical question or anything.
