Anyone else getting this? An FPS RPG with its main inspiration being Diablo, apparently. There's an excellent preview feature in this months GamesTIM! if anyone's interested. Promises co-op too. Some gumph:

It looks delightful.

Natch! I'll be getting it Fo Sho. 4 player co-op? Yes please!

The interesting article in GamesTIM! mentioned that the different combinations you can forge weapons into weighed in at the 500k mark 8)

I suggest you buy GamesTIM! to fully upgrade that wantage to "feverish". Or at least read it in WH Smiths.

It would be absolutely fine without the blacklining.

Actually, on further persual, I quite like the look of this (Scanner Darkly RotoScope resemblance notwithstanding). The 500 billion weapons thingy helps, as I love things like that.

Bajillion. Actual stats put it in the 500k mark, as I said upthread.

Edit: FFS 23 Oct. That Tekken 6, CoD6, L4D2 and this all out in about a month of each other that I really want!

I'd also like to emphasise the lack of a digit after the title.

Been waiting for this for ages... they're stupidly releasing it to compete at Christmas (idiots) but the new look (Prince of Persia meets Crackdown) is much better than the 'serious' old one.

A bit of a shame there's not as much character customization (you just choose from the four, so far as I can tell) but should be an excellent 4 Bezzie romp to supplant Halo, possibly.

Here's hoping Gearbox get it very right for once (instead of middling to average)

The cheapest place I've found for pre-orders is The Hut at £35.74. Come on boffins, there's got to be better than that out there.

Forza 3, CoddyModdy2, Brutal Legend, L4D2 and Borderlands are all released while I'm in America. At least I won't be short of something to play once I get back, though.

I reckon it'll probably be available for cheap somewhere a couple of weeks after it comes out, unless it gets a lot of hype between now and then. Certainly by the time Modern Warfare 2 is out.

Yeah, probably true.

Hang on - I've just seen some older screenshots that don't have the rotoscoping effect, and it looks lovely (i.e. normal - like Fallout 3 but better). I wonder if it's switch on- and off- able.

If the old trailer is still on Xbox Live you can see it in motion (a deformed woman with an Hollywood British accent tells you the planet is very dangerous) and while it does look nice, it also looks incredibly generic.

So's your face.

I thought it looked quite good. Still, the blacklining cartoony effect does add something a little different, but I don't think it needed it.

Wiki isn't sure:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cel-shaded_animation
Quote:
The use of cel-shading in video games has somewhat slowed since its inception, even though the technique has been used in recent acclaimed titles. Examples include Dragon Quest VIII, Rogue Galaxy, Killer 7, No More Heroes, Afro Samurai, Metal Gear Acid 2, Ōkami, Street Fighter IV, "Zack and Wiki", and Prince of Persia (2008); although, should be noticed, that some of these titles only use the outline effect and do not apply the shading technique that creates the flat look, which some people consider to not be cel-shading.

They claim it's cel-shading in conjunction with ANOTHER technique. Cor, ANOTHER.

So for £35 you get two techniques? That's only £17.50 per technique! Pre-ordered.

Waiting on reviews for this because it might end up like Hellgate London.

Very, very hopeful though!

Darn, I'd never thought of that. I'm not exactly a Gearbox fan (hated Opposing Force, hated Brothers in Arms) but I really like the ideas behind this.
