I suggest Manchester, because I'm lazy, but I don't want any of your shifty internet people sleeping on my dirty floor, making it dirtier with your dirtyness.

I think you're stretching the definition of 'midlands' there.

@CG: your house of dirty floors doesn't sound as inviting as myoptika's house of spaciousness. I'd be maybe up for this, depending on where and when and whatnot.

Oxford. So the London people can come play as well.

*sigh*

*EDIT*

Ok, so far only Nottingham, Sheffield and Oxford count as sensible suggestions. Oxford less so than the other two. Have amended my original post for clarification.

Oxford's surprisingly central for most parts of England. And if it's a nice day we can all go punting.

I'm just trying to gauge opinion as to whether anyone's interested so far. I'll do a poll for location and date once we've had all (sensible) suggestions.

Notts sounds most sensible, although Oxford is more convenient for me. Would probably be good to have an idea about who could go to which places.

I can get to anywhere, really. However, I think somewhere like Nottingham, Birmingham or Cardiff would be the most fun night out.

I'm suddenly shocked to discover that a return from Cardiff to Birmingham costs £42! Which is pretty much the same as going to Oxford. Gagh!

I guess I could cunningly 2x single fare it to Nottingham for £25.

Hmm, Cardiff is great for night's out! I know a fine indie club or three! ;)

And Bristol's pretty awesome too.

I'd vote for Bristol. Or Cheltenham. Or Stroud.

Stroud and Cheltenham can fuck off, but Bristol's a good night out. Consider it put on the poll.

I'm tempted to do a two-stage poll: the first for everyone to choose three venues they'd be willing to travel to; and a second for everyone to pick their favourite out of the top three.

This way most of the people who didn't get their top choice would still be able to come.

Good idea. Also, Bristol. There's a pub that does pizza that's off the fucking hook, man.

Why is off the hook better than on the hook? What is this hook, and why is it significant?

Late July or August would be tops.

Preferably in Cheltenham. I work in Bristol and I'd rather not have to put up with their funny accents in the evening as well.... ;)

Shall I just set an arbitrary date in August then? 23rd works for me. It's not the Bank Holiday and it's after the Big Chill, which I'm going to...

Can't do that, on the 28th 2016, I'm being knocked off the motorbike whilst filtering so I'll be dead.

I've no idea, I've been saying ever since I heard it on Flight of the Conchords.

Yeah, 23rd should be okay. I might have cash troubles though as the Green Man fest is just before it.

I say Warwick. If it's before September, I have a spare two bedroom flat we can all use, and it's a 90 second walk from a pub right on the canal. Plus it's close to both train stations (30-40 minute walk) and can be driven to quite easily, I understand.
