Saw this and thought of you!

http://timesonline.typepad.com/technology/2009/07/att-takes-%20on-4chan-everyone-stand-back.html
Quote:
AT&T takes on 4chan - everyone stand back

It is not clear yet why exactly but it seems AT&T, the biggest phone company in America and one of the biggest internet service providers, is blocking part of 4chan. For the unititiated 4chan is the influential, wildly popular and often deeply distasteful web community that gave the world rickrolling and LOLcats

Users of AT&T's DSL internet access across many states in the US are reporting that they are being blocked from the infamous /b/ message board in what appears to be an act of internet censorship by the phone company. This started today Sunday and no one has yet been able to get any official confirmation out of AT&T as to why.

Moot, the founder of 4chan, has confirmed AT&T is filtering/blocking the site.

AT&T must have its reasons - it surely knows that going after the most expert and vindictive group of internet hackers would mean all-out war. There is already much talk and organising on the message boards of how to fight back. It will be interesting to watch what happens next and if I were an AT&T executive I would be a little nervous right now.

Don't AT&T control something like 25% of America's net access?

They'd better fix it, and get a spokesman to make a statement saying it was an automatic filtering error in some new software they were trying out. Quick.

It is a pity they can't electrify keyboards remotely to fry anybody who posts there.

Storm in a teacup. AT&T have already confirmed it was a short-term measure to block a DDoS attack (done with the blessing of the 4chan admin) and have removed the restriction already.

Statement from a different ISP who did the same thing:

It's because 4chan has been under a large scale DDOS attack for weeks, and the fallout from this has crippled bits of peoples networks - apparently the only way to stop this is to reject traffic to or from their address.

Don't vampires need earth from their couintry of origin? Thinking back to Bram Stoker's version.

They'll release a post-mortem single of him singing that, with Bridge Over Troubled Water as a b-side.
