Ok, It's late and I'm at work and stressed with PhD, but at last weekends protest I didn't wear a mask and just watched from the scientology side, as though I was a passerby as I was just passing through with some friends. Saying that I didn't hold my tongue in earshot of the scientologists.

A female Scientologist bumped into my arse at one point as she walked away and I didn't think anything of it.

After a while I left and did some other stuff round london for about half an hour or so before heading home. However, I found that my oyster card wallet had gone from my back pocket. Not being paranoid I assumed I misplaced it got another and went home. It only had my oyster card, some train tickets, receipts and some other pointless card thingy that did have my name on.

Now a few days later I've got scientologists commenting on my really rather hopelessly obscure blog.

I'm just being paranoid right?

Also apologies to be going on about my blog again - it's just it, mariokart and my Thesis are the only things in my life at present. Even my lady friend has gone to another country...

No, you're not being paranoid. Change your locks. Move house. Change your name. Have your face done up like the Joker.

Honestly? I'd be slightly worried, myself.

In context, they did get a photo of me on my way to the first protest without a mask, but holding a bandanna.

They did see me without a mask when I watched them spy on people in Forbidden Planet. They then did follow me, and photograph me.

The "how they will stalk you" post that on my blog got quite a lot of attention so that connects my face to the blog.

Then the oyster card...

The enturbulation.org forums where the protesting anonymous hang out warn to not take any id with you 'cos they'll try and swipe it, but I've not read any confirmed report.

And it's not like I can prove anything, It's very, very likely I'm just being paranoid. But a scientologist did bump into my arse, and when I checked about 30 mins later my arse pocket didn't have the oyster card...

There was quite a scary story posted on Popbitch about a poster on there who was stalked because he took the piss out of them.

Apparently quite alot of things are considered "fair game" against non-believers.

Aye, I remember you mentioning that in our old home.

Incomparison this guy's story is not that bad in the youtube version:

As they just follow him with signs for a bit. But the full account features this little doozy

Quote:
On Friday the 14th, I spoke with Rorschach sometime after lunch and immediately noticed he sounded
markedly out-of-sorts. I asked if everything was okay and he gave me a very choked-up and somewhat
irate account of having woken to go into his yard to find and feed the feral cats that he cares for. He
told me that he had found a pool of vomited blood and unidentified matter that looked like tissue -
rather than chewed food - next to the dish for his cat Mudkips.
He immediately suspected foul play
since the food smelled like ammonia. This happened the morning after he was publically identified by
Scientology on numerous sites. They have a well documented history of animal and pet abuse used to
send critics a "message.” Sean lives around the corner from a Co$ 'Mission,’ making handling a simple
matter.

And then this:

Quote:
Tuesday evening, March 18th, a video was published online exactly like the five previous videos that I
mentioned labeling people as members of Anonymous, and by association, “Terrorists.” This video had
my photo and name in it, effectively sealing my outing.

On Wednesday, March 19th, I noticed several things that may or may not have been coincidences. Some
will likely call me paranoid, but I am simply noting these things in the event that any of them turn out
to be something more than just odd. This morning when I went to shave, I noted that the remainder of
my shaving gel had been expelled in to a spot next to the shaving gel canister. It was a small amount
and had foamed up like it was done several hours before. The canister was now empty.

When I went downstairs to my car, I noticed that the gas cap had been opened and unsealed. I replaced
it and went to work. At around 2:00pm, I received a call from Facilities. They said that Security had
noted that my gas cap was undone. I went outside and found it had, and replaced it again. I had a
conversation with our head of security and he had been informed of what was happening to me. He
wished me luck and said he would keep both his and his colleagues' eyes open.

Which of course make me look like a namby pamby silly sausage in comparison.

Indeed but apparently they do shit like that because it's so ridiculous. Who is going to go to the cops to say they think someone has come into their house an emptied some shaving foam. But if it did happen then it means they've broken into his house. Which is freaky.

That's all a bit worrying and it's shocking that people can do such a thing. I mean, don't they see the complete ludicrous venality of their actions? Huh? Why can't they - y'know, be nice to their critics? Then maybe their critics would go, "Hey, they're okay. Just a bit silly." Gagh.

Not feeling the love for scientology here, that's for sure.

Heh! I didn't even think about Rab's pose when I posted. I don't think dear Mr Nesbitt could manage an ingratiating smile - at least not unless the scientologists are armed with a couple of bottles of Bucky...

Because Scientologists consider Scientology a religion, and the devout consider non-Scientologists at best the equivalent of germs, and at worst something to be eradicated. Scientology doctrine considers critics 'fair game', to be utterly destroyed.

Aye lets not forget "operation freakout" - which I can guarantee will be pretty much the most fucked up thing you'll read today.

Short version: A woman wrote a book on Scientology. They respond by planning to fuck with her head so she either commits suicide, or ends up in a mental asylum.

In the court case stuff like this came to light (a detailed plan about how they would fake a bomb threat from her!):
EDIT: that pic was tiny - see below.

Thought as much. I've seen a couple of documentaries on them - that was more of a cry of exasperation from me. I just can't understand why a religion could be formed around such an appallingly boring and idiotic trash-sci-fi story.

All highly illegal, obv., but since Scientology is so wealthy, it can get away with practically everything. See also: the organisation's desire to completely fuck up the previously rather lovely town of Clearwater, Florida. At present, it's bad enough, with the town centre now being Scientology HQ (although Scientologists now somewhat stay away from local residents, due to realising they are totally unwelcome there), so much so that the local council built a new bridge to the keys that specifically means you can entirely bypass downtown. But now, they're planning on adding a 15-story tower with a fucking huge cross on it, which will be visible across most of the low-level town. Then again, there is another word for a big 'x', right?

The thing is, like stated elsewhere, Scientologists wouldn't be such a problem if they weren't so vicious. In fact, they might further their cause and get more sign-ups, and at worst be seen as an irritant. Currently, the mind boggles at the lengths the organisation will go to in order to destroy people's lives.

Quote:

Money and power. And the fact that some people are idiots, and some people are extremely vulnerable and easy to 'turn'.

I think I'm ok. Googling around the guy seems to be just a brainwashed member ranting off at obscure blogs on the internet.

And he didn't come back since I mentioned the site would 'spoil his case' (by talking about the OTIII xenu stuff). Which is a very good tool to get Scientologists to leave you along. If you threaten to tell them about OTIII then they'll have to pay for a course to be 'cleared' so they'll generally leave you along.

I'm guessing an actual stalker wouldn't fall for that.

Cheers, it's amazing, I'm going to do an update about it but I've already done one today and I need to work, so I'll do it tomorrow.

Annoyingly it's the only one I didn't get chance to watch. The kid is a fucking legend though. All the shit teenagers get for being crap and so on then this fifteen year old, when threatened by the police:

Quote:
The teenager refused to back down, quoting a 1984 high court ruling from Mr Justice Latey, in which he described the Church of Scientology as a "cult" which was "corrupt, sinister and dangerous".

THIS GUY IS AMAZING!

I'm not. It's the perfect example of (insert new favourite word) a footbullet.

The church, by pressing the police to do this, has highlighted the fact they are "gifting" the met police. And the kid will win. Thus they are a cult, and it will get in the papers so.

The law in question is worrisome though.

This intrigues me. Why?
And thanks for the new word.

True. We just don't tend to get outraged about these things until it's too late though.

I thought cults weren't protected by religious tolerance laws, in a nicely circular argument kind of way. Scientology doesn't have religion status. And yay for them owning the City of London police. I bet the freemasons are furious.

I do remember that story clearly due to the ridiculous level of detail (and comparatively small scale) of the "gifts". Still fishy, and newsworthy, but I assume this is what you mean by footbullet?

I'm not. It's the perfect example of (insert new favourite word) a footbullet.

The church, by pressing the police to do this, has highlighted the fact they are "gifting" the met police. And the kid will win. Thus they are a cult, and it will get in the papers so.

This intrigues me. Why?
And thanks for the new word.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Why?" - but what makes anonymous endless fascinating is that for the last 40 years scientology has always sued and threatened and blacking the reputation of everyone who criticises them. But the internet has destroyed their main strategy. Ever attempt to "get at someone" is a footbullet. It flares up over the internet and makes them look worse.

And with anonymous no one wants the glory, so are happy to stay anonymous and so Scientology can't really do anything.

Ah, it showed me you new post when I went to post this one.

I think it will be a footbullet because if the case stands, then the kid will be found not guilty for calling Scientology a cult, those effectively making it official that it is a cult. Which will get reported in the media.

If I read it correctly, you're implying that they want to have it proved that they are a cult, at least for the publicity. Or do I misunderstand?

What does the new word mean actually :?

Well the argument is that calling it a cult is hate speech. But it will be dropped on the grounds it's factual, not hateful.

A footbullet is just an action that results in you worsening your position. Shooting yourself in the foot if you will.

So the Police can apparently ignore or refuse to uphold decisions of the courts.
