I might, as I've not played a Monkey Island game in years - and thanks to a bad memory, I won't have a clue how to do any of the puzzles. What's 'special' about this version?

Fully recreated HD graphics, full voice (original cast from CoMI), and full band versions of the original MIDI music.

I thought new games came out at 9, but maybe it's 9.30. Seeing as I've never played any of the games that are currently in the New Arrivals section (in their XBLA guise at least), then I'm obviously a little out of touch.

Also, if it is just remade SOMI with new graphics, then I want it. I might get GJ to play it so I can sit there getting frustrated.

Yes, all the puzzles are exactly the same, it's just been snazzed up.

Also: you can hotswap between the new version and the original 256 colour mode.

Nope. It's been completely re-recorded by a live band, apparently. They managed to get the old MIDI files out of the LucasArts archive and base it on them.

What I've played of the demos of Wallski and Gromovich, and of Sam and Max... it's clever and all but it's not funny or memorable like the old, genuinely funny Lucasarts or Sierra adventures were.

Well Steve Purcell wrote the new Sam and Max, so what you're suggesting is to get rid of the original writer and creator there.

Is anyone going to say that they're genuinely as funny as the original Sam & Max Hit the Road? I dare say that having to churn out the games so quickly doesn't give them enough time to really work on the wit, and entire locations are reused betweens episodes.
