I saw Richard Herring doing stand-up comedy 8 days ago.

He was good. Considerably better than the previous time I saw him, when he was distinctly average.

I loved TMWRNJ.

I still have my signed tour guide for the TMWRNJ, erm, tour. Stewart Lee did writ "Dale, you truly are a strapping young lad" after he noticed my Strapping Young Lad shirt. The joke was on him, as I'm morbidly obese!

I have not, but should, as Andrew Collins manages to be a music/film/tv journo who isn't massively hateful all the time always, which is a rare feat.

He lurrrves 1983 though.

I recommend starting at the first one and catching up, because there's some genuinely 'LOL' moments and they're already starting to go a bit mental only 3 episodes in. There's a link to it on RH's blog.

Mods! Is it possible to add the horrid word "podcast" to the swear filter? So that it changes to "utterly normal downloadable audio file"?

Yes, anything is possible.

It would be easier to ban people who type it in though.

:D Sorry.
Utterly normal downloadable audio file utilising an RSS service of some kind which you can locate and subscribe to via iTunes and it will automatically download and transfer to your iPod as soon as it's updated. Is what I meant.

Later Lave is kidnapped by the Taliban and held in a secret mountain complex. Forced to index all their back issues of Your Sinclaire under threat of death, he instead uses them to construct a giant motorised origami giraffe whose long neck gives injurous papercuts to the evil terrorists. Re-folding the origami giraffe into a giant goose, he glides down from the mountain to the nearest US army base. There, after a quick debriefing, shave, wash etc and stopping only to sign a lucrative publishing deal with the New Yorker and Time Magazine, he jets off back to London.

Just in time to miss it owing to added congestion during his taxi ride from the airport, due to the scrapping of a certain tax by a lovable, bumbling, mayoral toff. The scream of anguish is audible at a range of twenty-seven miles, and accompanied by mass-stares, dogs barking, car alarms and birds taking to wing.

Also: I hope Rebecca Front is involved. People on TV, stop wasting Rebecca Front in rubbish supporting roles supporting your rubbish comedies. Get her to do more stuff that was ace like she used to.

You have 6 months to concoct a massive elaborate scheme.

DO IT.

Why not try... becoming increasingly erratic and short tempered in the month leading up to the gig, professing to a completely fictitious cocaine addiction the week before the gig, and then leaving to be booked into pretend rehab on the day before the gig. You can then make a miracle recovery the day afterwards, and just get on with things.

Hey, it's Mark X! Welcome, I don't remember seeing here you before and stuff. If I'm the person you least wanted to hear from, I suggest some kind of vague 'thanks' and moving swiftly on. Welcome, anyway.

Hey CUS. Good to be here. I've got a lot of stuff on the go right now, which hasn't left much time for contributing here (or anywhere else, for that matter). No doubt, I'll be posting my usual range of semi-regular, demi-coherent meanderings soon enough, tho'.

I JUST PANIC SPENT £60 FUCK YES YES YES YES.

Quote:

Hello

Just a quickie to let you know that I have organised a special deal and an opportunity to buy tickets before the general public for the autumn run at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith

Tickets are £15 per gig or £10 per gig if you sit in the Upper Circle - or buy tickets for all three gigs and get the best seats for just £30 total (3 for 2).

The line ups are really good and there has already been a lot of interest in the November gig so I advise you to book AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to avoid disappointment. Stewart Lee will be roadtesting different material every month for his forthcoming BBC show "Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle".

The gigs are all hosted by me, plus:

Sun 21st September - Robert Newman, Stewart Lee and Dan Antopolski.

Sun 28 October - SPECIAL SURPRISE HEADLINER WHO WE CAN'T NAME YET, BUT WHO IS BRILLIANT, Stewart Lee, Ivan Brackenbury and Wilson Dixon

Sun 16 November - TMWRNJ Reunion Special - Many of the cast of the cult BBC 2 show get together for the first time on stage for almost 10 years. Please be aware that most of these people will be doing their current acts rather than material or characters from the show - including Stewart Lee, Richard Thomas, Paul Putner, Emma Kennedy and Trevor Lock. Hopefully Kevin Eldon will also show up, though he hasn't got back to me yet. The evening will be headlined by a short 10 minute set from defunct double act LEE AND HERRING. This is the kind of gig that only comes along once in a blue moon and will sell out first, so BOOK NOW!

In fact take advantage of the one off 3 for 2 offer for Lee and Herring fans only and come to all three.

Tickets are only available to fans in the know for the next week, so please ring the Lyric on 0871 22 117 29 and quote "Moon on a Stick" to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

incidentally Ivan Brackenbury is awesome.
