My new headphones are too bassy.
Sound cards usually have their own hideous control center type thing (my big computer's Gigabyte motherboard has some unobtrusive stuff) which includes an equaliser that I can use to counter this. My laptop doesn't, so are there any third-party applications or drivers that fiddle with the standard sound output and give you an equaliser interface? A media player with an equaliser in it wouldn't be much use as it wouldn't affect last.fm streams.
Connecting the line out of my laptop to the line in of my main PC and playing the music that way is problematic.
The correct solution to the problem is to get some different headphones (but that isn't the answer to my question), as the headphones would stay too bassy on everything except these two computers. As I only use the headphones on these two computers, that's fine.

What are you using to play the music? Winamp has an equaliser, doesn't it? Come to think of it, Windows Volume Control has an equaliser - as long as you get to it via the start menu rather than by right-clicking in the systray.

The sound is coming from the last.fm Flash applet.
The default Windows XP sound controls don't have an equaliser.

to do it with the entire output it would need to be a part of the drivers.
