Be Excellent To Each Other

We've had a bit of a chat about the (BASTARD) limited edition Alien Quadrilogy box set elsewhere, and that got me to thinking about rare stuff we might have.

I've got a few things, a limited edition (in a run of 2323) basketball celebrating 23 years of the Air Jordan range from Nike, which cost about £80 and pleasingly one changed hands on eBay a few months ago for £250. It's very pretty:


I've also got an original Alien script, signed by all the cast (including Helen Horton, which makes it pretty special). It's a bit tatty, but I love it. I've read it once, and it lives in a bag in a box at the moment. Oddly, I've got no pictures of it, although I'm sure I posted one on here before.

Finally, I've got my little tractor, a 1952 Series II Field Marshall which has been in my family since my father and grandfather restored it in 1978. It makes the best chugging noise in the world.

What rare or unusual stuff do you lot have?

(Oddly, while looking for that wedding picture, I found this on Flickr - I think that's my great grandparents. Weird!)

The only vaguely rare stuff I've had has been games-related and most of that has been sold off so about the only rare thing I've currently got is Castlevania:SOTN for the PS1 which isn't that rare, just expensive.

I have a memory of when Zardoz bought a round.

Well, there's the (bastard) Quadrilogy, the Alien head, the motion tracker (no. 92 out of 2,500) and the pulse rifle replica.

I also have the Colonial Marines Technical Manual which is now out of print.

Non-Aliens wise, I have the hardback edition of the Fallout 3 Wasteland Survival Guide (strategy guide) which is apparently quite rare now and is worth a bit of money over it's original RRP, as they only sell the paperback edition.

I have a copy of the Elseworlds 80-Page Giant.

And not only that, but I bought up a few copies and sent them to some of the creators involved, who didn't get copies sent to them by DC, for which I received some signed stuff and, best of all, two sketches for original artwork (including the cover) drawn by Ty Templeton. They're framed on the wall by my bed and are pretty much my most treasured possessions. Also, the envelope had a little sketch of Batman saying "Thanks Owen!" on it, which made me very, very happy. I've still got that, too, though I'm not sure where it ended up after I last moved.

A friend knows a comic artist, and for her birthday he drew her into an issue of Robin as a flight hostess, and sent her the original, which she stuck on the wall. Lucky cow

I've got various Tool bits and bobs: a grey vinyl 1x12" Undertow LP; original Salival DVD/CD boxset with various typos in the liner notes; holographic Ænima CD with foldout; original pressing double Ænima gatefold LP (cost me £48, now going for about £200 last time I checked on eBay).

I've also got an original pressing of Pink Floyd's The Wall on double LP.

I've got the version of ICO that came with the postcards. That's about it.

I've got lots and lots of rare videos. And a few CDs that are rare as well.

I had a signed copy of Tankgirl that I've lost and Castlevania SotN PS1 that my brother lost for me.

I do have:

Lots of cool Japanese stuff including my boat license

I've got a signed copy of Stanley Bagshaw and the 22-ton Whale, as well.

Oh yeah, I've got a fair few things signed, like Candiria's '300 Percent Density' and numerous gig tickets.

Oh, and a signed copy of Jesper Kyd's Hitman 2: Silent Assassin soundtrack.

Ive got three Telecaster Plus guitars (most notably the model Jonny Greenwood uses) which change hands for reasonable amounts of cash and are well sought after.

Also on guitar related ive got a few effects pedals that are no longer made which are worth a bundle / difficult to get hold of) such as a Digitech Space Station and a Lovetone Doppelganger.

Ive also got a signed copy of The Holy Bible (MSP) and some other stuff of theirs.

No real game rarities to speak of - ive got the Digipak version of ICO thats about it.

I think I've only got one thing signed and that's Freezepop's 'Future Future Future Perfect' which, when ordered from their site shortly after its release, came with a second CD inlay with the signatures on. A nice touch but rather spoiled by the fact the CD case was crushed in the post. Ho hum.

I've got loads of signed stuff, mainly comics. My favourite is probably a hardback of the novel Ring, signed by the author. (Well, to be fair, he signed a bit of paper they then stuck into the book, probably cheaper than shipping the actual books to Japan and back.)

Oh, yeah, I've also got what seems to be a really rare hardback copy of The Dark Knight Returns, just called The Dark Knight. It's all signed and stuff and it's very hard to find information about it online.

I've got a signed Peter Bonetti Corinthian figure.
The first Dennis the Menace Annual in pretty good condition, and also about 200 other assorted annuals which arent as rare.
Cant think of anything else, I;ve probably got some cds or r lps that are rare.

I own a few rare books & I'm almost guaranteed to own some rare records but idk what ones. Most of the books are naval manuals & almanacs, but my favourite is a lovely leather bound copy of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam with handcut pages.

Games wise, does Vib Ribbon on the PS1 or the Ico digipak count?

The only thing approaching special is my deluxe edition of the latest Sigur Rós album, which is in a big hand-bound book with an original clipping of film from one of their music videos. However, there seem to have been a fair few made (mine is No. 666, heh), though how many exactly I'm not sure. My name's in the back somewhere, amongst many others.

I have a collectible HSamuels van. It was made for the 100th (? maybe, might have been 75th) anniversary and they got the date wrong. Might be worth a bit in a few years.

A load of Star Wars Sweet dispensers that *might* be worth something.

A copy of the Gillian Anderson FHM. I doubt that's got any value left, but it was worth about £30 at the peak.

I bet Mr Chris would pay handsomely for that.

Annoyingly not, so the value is not as much as it could be. i.e. very little.
