I am looking at a way we can resolve this..

I do not wish to complain about being bullied not do I wish to.. but the odd digs are getting worse now.. It is so easy to be mean when on the faceless internet.

I do not troll, but some of you think I do. The digs have included a go at me, my job and my wife. I think it has stopped being funny.

It has been said I have two posting methods, a resonable one and a troll one, which is unfair. If I have to defend my opinion rather than justify it, it wears me down.

How do me move on?

I have never considered you to be trolling and have never responded to you as such, I do think that you sometimes should hover a bit longer over the Submit button though.

Ban Mr Chris.

Seriously, sorry it's come to this Kov. Hopefully this new thread being created will put an end to it.

Ooh... erm, I hadn't noticed Kovacs. Certainly I don't have a problem with you dude, even if you do work for a major competitor of my employer! :D

Seriously though... your encouragement was a major help for me as I prepared for my own fatherhood (which I'm utterly loving BTW - my daughter is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!)

About 3 months of gentle digs getting worse.... I think it started in the Police thread, where I made a bad joke..

I admit I haven't been reading the weighty threads recently so any of the meatier discussions have passed me by, but I have noticed a trend of Kov vs the Forum developing. You do project a 'devils advocate' image sometimes and I think you and Mr Chris are at opposite ends of the political spectrum.

That's what the ignore button is for, guy!

I think a few of us, me included, have mistaken your debating style (sometimes) for intentionally trying to wind people up .

As you've clarified that you're not doing it on purpose, I'll apologise for that.

And if it's seemed like bullying, I'll doubly apologise for that, very sincerely, and I'll be careful in my responses in future - it certainly wasn't intended. OK?

You've admitted to trolling in the past, though, and once you've been tarred with that brush it's hard to shake. You always seem to position yourself on the opposing side of the original poster without backing up your assertions, which is a typical trolling tactic.

The alternative is that you're not fully taking in the points being made before posting, which frustrates people. Again, this is often employed by trolls to wind people up.

If you're genuinely upset by this, then I promise not to mention the 't' word again (and will make sure no one else does either), but can you try to fully read (and understand) posts before replying to them? I'm sure there are people just as exasperated here by your obstinate discussion tactics just as you are with the shouts of 'troll' that come your way.

I would say if you don't have anything of value to add to a thread then leave well alone, but I'm fully aware I'd have to reduce my postcount by a factor of a billion in order to not set off the hypocrisy alarm. :D

KC - if you set yourself up as the main arguer in a debate, you'll attract flak, that's the way of it. I don't think it helps that a lot of people find your debating style a little frustrating (not through any maliciousness on your part), which leads to hightened emotion.

I don't think anyone here intends maliciousness with the digs at you, and certainly not at your job - anyone here who works for a firm that is high profile and relevant to current affairs as you do will attract flak for it, that's part of working for an evil capitalist monster. We've got lawyers here, for goodness sake, it doesn't get worse than that. There's nothing personal intended, I'm sure of that.

On the whole, if you are finding yourself to be distressed by discussions, then taking such a high profile stance may not be good for your blood pressure. I think now people are aware of your unhappiness they will hopefully back off a little more and be a little more respectful. As always, do feel free to contact the mods if you feel a line has been crossed.

And the same from me too.

I'd taken you as perhaps having a thicker skin than you do, due to your debating style, and assumed you'd be okay with a knockabout style of discussion (which I enjoy being on both ends of). It certainly wasn't my intention to ever cause real offence, so my apologies and I'll try to avoid causing any offence in the future.

That's a good point, actually, and reminds me of something that tickled the synapses when reading the OP but didn't entirely register at the time - I wasn't aware anyone had actually had a go at KC's wife? That's well off, if so.

So I'm going to be brutally honest then just leave it. And before I start I should point out that I enjoy the vast majority of your contrabutions Kovacs, I really do. I also think the personal things said about your job and family are bang out of order.

Kovacs Caprios wrote:

And back in the G20 thread (after going around in circles a lot):

Kovacs Caprios wrote:
Dr Lave wrote:

Soz Kovacs :(

I was a little bit :)

Which really bothered me. And so it makes it hard for me to trust you that you don't troll for a reaction sometimes. Even if just a 'little bit.' And I admit it winds me up.

But in the cold light of it, I think you are just a little quick to hit the submit button. When it is a debate about a serious issue, if you make a claim and someone offers a rebuttal, you should address that rebuttal before repeating your claim, whereas often it seems you will just go over the same view point again and again.

Which is fair enough, if you just want to let people know your views, but thats not how you typically do it. You will still continue to use your view as a rebuttal but ignore any counter rebuttals. And when it is about something I care about I get a bit to involved about something on the internet and it really annoys me. I feel it stops the debate progressing.

Hence my childish act of copying the same rebuttal again and again whenever you repeated your point in the Doctors thread.

But it's not a proper way to behave, so I apologise for getting wound up and if I've upset you and will just keep out of the debate threads in the future because its not worth getting either of us wound up about.

Aside from myp calling KC an idiot in the religion thread and kalmar doing pretty much the same thing, the massive thing about the architecture of Windows 7 which lead to the same, the sniping about his company and various other things recently. It covers personal, and professional attacks.

When I sent KC a message saying "I'm going to be hanging here [beex], everyone's quite cool and we have a laugh" I didn't realize that it would swiftly turn into myp and kalmar taking potshots for some imagined reason. So, I'm basically sorry to KC that I advertised this place as something it isn't.

Fair enough. But it's a little odd you telling people off for something you do yourself.

Anyway - a number of us have apologised to KC, and unless you're questioning the honesty of the apologies, noone was intending to be malicious or deliberately hurtful and everyone's going to be careful now they know that KC doesn't like what was being said. So I fail to see what your point was.

I don't think I did, but I have apologised for having a go at his arguing style a few times (and have been called worse names than an idiot for that). So I think Kovacs can look after himself.
