Odd. I know it referencing the whole duck island thing but as this is not a funny post or related to the discussion above it so therefore this must be a CLUE!!!!

Plissken must be a something or other.

Well, I didn't get to spin much of that, did I?
Shame, because we never put our MASTER PLAN into action, whereby [chief whip] admits he's chief whip, and I protect him each night.

Of course, there's no great advantage to admitting being chief whip - it just means you lose the chance to protect anyone else.

As I said - no surprise. My uncommon desperation to survive and insults were meant to signify that I had a role, and attract the votes. Only sad that I didn't manage to get both of them to go for me.

But...

the rules, with emphasis of me wrote:
Dedicated Journalist - You can investigate one person per night, and you will find out their exact role. During any one night phase, you can decide to throw your lot in with one side or the other permanently and pass them a secret portfolio. They are then all given access to everything you have found out without revealing your identity. Your win condition is either Rebel or Loyalist depending on the choice you make.

Interesting. Given what I said, I'd have never chosen the Journalist, and it seems a remarkably bizarre conclusion to draw, unless you have something else that you know - like who all the good/bad guys are. Also odd given he's just as likely to choose the bad guys, and the 'town' aren't looking overly comfortable.

Didn't give a fuck about the party leader TBH - he had no POWAS. Also assumed I couldn't protect myself. Hey ho.

Good logic that.

Regardless of the fact that hitting a bad guy is unlikely in the first day, and I was quite upfront that I had no reason to want to suspect Joans over anyone else, and so going for the quiet guy seems like a better option for a few reasons

1) Not going to learn much about him/his loyalties/what he wants us to believe are his loyalties.
2) If we go after the quiet people, it'd make them talk. Joans has been more vocal in past games, and uncommonly quiet in this one.

Really - Don't worry. I think the extra numbers helped. It would have been a bit annoying if you'd lasted till the last day saying little.

Besides, if you'd not been there, it could have been me who died.... oh. wait.

Argh!

The question is, did the rebels oust me as an attempt to try to force a 'lynch' vote on Myp, or did they do it as a double bluff?

Also, Mr Dom for rebel.

Oh, didn't see that you'd been lynched. I thought the day had timed out.

Odd that they 'killed' me then. Would have thought they'd leave me in the party to try and attract the next 'lynch'.

Interesting... that would seem to indicate that the rebels have gained a journalist, and that the muck raker may be on his way out.

In the meantime, I have been thinking of various roles and how best to play the next game I run.

I have decided it will be a simple blind game (everyone knows their role, but not what other roles are out there), as opposed to a double blind game, which would just be too confusing.

It will be fun.

:)

Well, that's interesting. So if he joins the town the 'Mafia' don't know, and anyone saying "Well he hasn't joined us yet" looks immediately suspicious.

That would be amusing.

If I were the journalist, I'd be tempted to go for a town choice just for the challenge. I can see a few ways to get a town win from this point, and I think it'd be more fun, even if the town hasn't done overly well.

For instance, if you're the Journo, and have found three alive townies. Declare immediately as Journo, point out that the bad guys can't afford to randomly pick someone, as the town will know immediately that they're a bad'un if they pick someone known as town. Limit the bad guys options - bad guys can't risk starting a vote for someone. If one of them dies, the first person to declare they knew "x" was town is safe. Mafia could try, but if they get it wrong... Erk.

Or without the disclosure, you're relying on the town to be sensible without instruction, but could still manage a win from that.

So essentially the Journo could take a risk and essentially win the game for the town by providing at least a safe group known to all townies, or he could try to play it safe. I certainly prefer the challenging option.

That does depend on what info they find out. Also, most people would try and find out bad guys, just cos, then choose a side, which may mean a long wait before the journo chooses, making them actually less useful.

It's a percentage game. Assuming he's still a free agent, at the moment, he has no win condition, a 1/7 chance of being hit by the SK and somewhere between a 1/7 and 1/5 chance of being hit by the mafia, I wouldn't like those odds considering I can't win if I die. I'd certainly be choosing one now, and it does depend on the information, but unless something odd has happened, I'd be favouring the town.

You're not sure how strong either side is at this stage, by joining the mafia, you could be joining a weak side and conferring little advantage. By joining the town you give a big advantage, unless you're unlucky and the people you've investigated have been killed.

I think the rebels have this one...
I got my beady little eyes on Plissken - he stuck the last vote in to finish me off pretty swiftly before Id even got on, and zaphod seems kinda dodgy too...
I guess it was my bad luck to end up voting with the Rev on day one :(
