Whenever anybody is in need of heaphones, I usually get a pair of Panasonic RPHT225 ones from Argos for a tenner, but it seems they've ran out of them for GOOD. :(

Are there any other heaphones below twenty quid that folks can recommend?

Philips have always been the best when it comes to cheap stuff, and headphones are no exception. I given up on Phillips headphones when i bought some 100€ sennheisers 7 years ago though.

I got these for the 35 delivered. Awesome phones wonderful sound.

Very comfy too. Just get some rechargable batteries. There's a USB unit with 2 batteries needed for a fiver on there.

Hmm, they're showing as used now. I know I paid that much for new ones. Odd.

For super-cheap, go for Panasonic. Seriously. Their ~£10 headphones were weirdly good for the money, last time I checked. That was a while ago, though. I am now all about these.

spend a bit of cash on a decent pair, cheap pairs are a false economy. Cheaper they are, the quicker they fall apart.

I have had the same pair of Sennheiser CX300s for about three years now. If they broke tomorrow, I'd get another set.

Check this out. I have a pair. They're creative/dell branded but basically the sennheisers.

I use them with the mp3 player some kind person here sent me :)

Come with a nice case and some spare rubber bud things too. If it's buds you're after you won't get cheaper :)

I use a pair of Roland RH-50. They're massive and the lead is will stretch from here to tower bridge, but they're very good and comfy too!

I think you can get them for under £30 now too!

I've had two pairs and both have broken within 6-8 months.

They're ace, but seem to be incredibly flimsy.

Not sure whether to get another set or to try something else.

Sennheiser Logo on ear bud > No Sennheiser logo on the earbud.

Do you untangle them by pulling at both ends as hard as you can, or something?

No, they suffered no real damage or violent use during their lifespans. Not sure what caused the issue with the first one, but the right hand side phone stopped working. Same again second time, though this was caused in some fashion by wear-and-tear on the plastic bit next to the bit what plugs into the iPod.

I'm tempted to shell out for another pair of Shure ones, as they were the best headphones I've had. But they're 'spensive.

Seriously annoying, that. I never buy from anywhere that doesn't have stock levels on their web site. Of course, it doesn't protect you against the lying cunts who list something as available, take your money, then claim they don't have any after all.

Funny how long it takes them to give you your money back after taking it instantly, too.

Except when the bastards know that no one else has it in stock either, so you'd be just as stuffed if you got a refund, and would have the extra hassle of re-ordering. Then they conveniently "forget" their offer of waving the delivery charge, which is normally free anyway, but they're charging you £50 because you're in an upstairs flat and then they only send one chap to deliver the 52" screen anyway, and don't tell the poor bugger about the stairs.

Not that I hold grudges for poor customer service or anything. :)

I bought these:

http://www.sennheisernordic.com/nordic/ ... nes_500155

As an emergency budget option for about fifteen quid from Maplin and I've found them a perfectly serviceable all-rounder, though listening to something on a £100 pair of Sennheiser afterwards will show you the flaws, a Senn of any cost will generally compare favourably against most else in the price bracket.

My out and about earbuds are these:

Image

Which I first bought in 2006 when I needed a pair that'd run with my new Zen Sleek Photo player while I traction kited. With kite lines bobbing about I needed something that'd basically sit flush with my body in all states, in my ears or out. These do - long long cable on a spool, has a clip on it. Then you've the volume dial, which clips again... a light player with a tie hole on it can live on the loop at the bottom. The wheel is easily adjustable to a fine degree, and sits by your tits when worn. The gray lanyard hangs comfortable on your neck and has a safety snap on the back so I can wear it when I'm working with violent folk. No chance of strangulation by it under any sporting or professional circumstances. The green lines from the lanyard to the buds are just so, and never get in my way. When you aren't wearing the buds which have three grades of green fitting to suit the ear, they magnetically lock to each other behind your head, or to the silver front of the volume dial, no missing. I paid thirty quid for the first pair and about fifteen for a second, which are still boxed, for when the first pair dies.

These days, for roughly twenty pounds, it's a bargain but get them when you see them, they're off the official site and nothing similar exists to replace them. Sound is excellent. Currys often have them in Cardiff.

One caveat - the green cabling is not immune to getting caught in a zip, with potential knackerage if you zip up in a carefree manner.

The out-of-the-box Zune earphones did that.

I bought meself a pair of Sennheiser CMX 300-II's today to leave at work (as I'm often forgetting to bring my usual earphones in - which causes me to get all huffy). They're very good for the price and very bassy for in-ear phones. So I'd definitely recommend those for people not wanting to spend ludicrous amounts of money on earphones.

My usual pair are Etymotic Research hf2's, for my iPhone (they have a little mic built-in so you can answer calls while wearing them). They're the fucking business, I've never owned earphones with anything like the sound quality they produce despite them being tiny little in-ear thingies. They cost crazy money though - £100 a pair (though the one's without the iPhone mic are obviously cheaper). They're also very dependent on you getting a good seal in your ear - until you get that right they sound rather tinny. But get it right and they're incredible.
