Urgh. They've added auras to distinguish gold members from silvers.

Yeah, they're not even pretending to like silver members anymore.

All over the place? I'll have you know I've not seen any in Marden or Staplehurst.

For Blood or, indeed, anything else. (Except the summer fete, that's Saturday week.)

I've just had an hilarious hour of trying to figure out why my eggbox wouldn't allow me to connect to Dave. Turns out my router was still picking up my the MAC address for my old box what Myp has at the mo. Tut. Port forwarding. Why the hell do we have to do it, eh? Why can't things just fucking work?

Important techy reasons.

It didn't help that Live isn't playing ball overly much right now (See my gamer card down there, with the picture of half a oblivion mans head. That's not right. That's never been my chosen picture, even if the whole thing was displayed)

Hmmmm, I had no problems switching to using your spare (or back to mine again when I got it back). Weird.

I would guess Dimmers had his router to give a fixed IP address out to a given MAC address and then had port forwarding bound to that IP address. Correct?

On my old router I had to DMZ the xbox's (dynamic, rolls eyes) IP address to get it to do Live properly.

On the new one it just worked, I assume to to uPNP goodness.

Ar. It doesn't help that my copy of Sophos Firewall plays spacky with Vista, so I thought I'd turn on my hardware firewall instead. That's what made it go manky.

I've just been through an experience like being in the boardroom on the Apprentice. While having a headache.

Now have to put a proposal together for Friday. Am quite capable of handling the job (I've done bigger) but it does feel like stepping up a level and is abit scary.

Might get chips for tea.

Why do race bikes have upside down gearboxes? The only advantage I can think of is the ability to downshift rapidly when braking. I'm to scared to ask uk.rec.motorcycles.

They could do one of those pens where there's a lady open mouth gasping at some lovely ducks in the sky, then when tilted she's recieveing a lovely gobload of spunk off an oily cock. It'd be "great".

I think it's to give their left foot more room when they're shifting up gears round corners. You've done all your downshifting as you brake.

I had a "rapid rise" rear derailleur fitted by accident once and that works in reverse to a normal derailleur. Apparently it's for the perverse mountain bikers who like the climb more than the descent. It was very weird and I got it changed immediately as it was the bike store who ordered the fucking thing.

I look at it through Google and the times I've had a motorbike related question, they've been most helpful.

I'm not even sure I've gotten it the right way around now.

<thinks>

Crikey, it's hard when you think about something that "just is".

So, rather than 1 down 5 up, it's 1 up 5 down. Which suggests it's for changing up quickly.

You make up more time in a race going up than down, so I can see the idea behind that. And used it as well, but I used to be skinny whippet climber. That idea though is intriguing. Is there any more info on it?

Yeah, it means you'd stamp down to shift up. So instead of having your foot under the lever on a sharp left corner, you can have it on top, so your foot won't scrape the floor round the corner, and you've got room to move your foot for shifting. I guess, anyway.

Maria also downloaded this the other day.

I had to pretend I didn't know the site very well.

Suicide Girls, Lemmy and Wino in one video? Best video ever.

Also Dave Grohl, but you can't have everything.

Quinn's my favourite.

I think I'm getting old. My overriding though from that video was that Lemmy's gonna get a bad neck if he doesn't lower that microphone a bit.

Lemmy has to sing like that as his larynx is knacked after being hit in it when he were young. His hands are tiny. I know this as Stafford Uni has his handprints in concrete outside the Beacon Building.

Right you bastard neighbours, I'm declaring war. My office wi-fi doesn't now extend as far as my office due to frequency congestion. Changed from channel 6 (which used to be clear) as there appears to be two other cretins also using that channel. Have now hopped to 13 but alas I'm still having issues.

Luckily SVP have 3 metre extension cables for sale so I will be mounting my aerials higher.

Back at home there's only 1 other network so I should be able to cover the house OK. However my ADSL is only due to be switched on tommorrow.
