Nothing but stress tbh. Firstly the house is in an absolute fucking tip and secondly I have realised I hate modern open plan homes. They function really well until you realise they have no cunting cupboards or storage space ! so right now I'm literally sitting on household items like slow cookers and woks and shit :(

What's making it tiresome is I've now been without a sink for three days and haven't had a decent cooked meal for five days. If I have to eat one more fucking kebab or cold ginsters slice I'm going to cry. And to make matters worse the chippy up the local village have selfishly decided to go on holiday for two weeks. The very same two fucking weeks that JC decided to have his new kitchen done.

The cat is climbing the walls literally. I've had to keep her locked in the small spare room all day and now that needs a new carpet. Absolute fucking nightmare LOL.

Still, it's gonna look well nice like :)

Got Maple cabinets, grey quartz counter tops and proper bo yank sink with 1/2 sink and joystick taps. And lovely italian grey slate floor tiles :)

It's starting to come together now.... No cooker and no sink. Infact, no kitchen really. Nice big hole in the wall too, decided open plan might aswell go all the way eh.

Image

New breakfast bar. Gotta say they've done a sublime job here. Poor sod spent about 3 hours with his router to make it all go together like this.

Image

Now theres some counter there that wasnt there before !

Image

Man, I just can't wait for this to be over. Cat's so stressed she's been throwing up :(

I'm soon to have a similar experience when we have a decorator in to sort out our living room/stairwell/upper hallway. Not looking forward to it, but looking forward less to having to do it myself.

Why have you taken a screenshot of a photo, and uploaded that?

Work looks good, mind if I ask how much it's setting you back, I might need something like that doing at some point.

We had a good month without a kitchen while our kitchen and dining room were knocked through. Worth it in the end though.

God that sounds like me right now. Good thing it's summer or you'd have to roll me in flour for a clue the way I'm going.

I feel for Craster. I've had three days of it and I'm climbing the walls. No taco pie :'(

Thankfully as can be seen from the pics you could fart the walls down, so they literally got out the saw and created the open plan in about five minutes :D

No steels, no lintels, fuck all.

The walls are 3/4-1inch-3/4 inch plaster board. I've had thicker sangers.

Picasa and the Google web photo album is a godsend for that sort of thing I find.

Some Facebook photo's of My garage conversion into a kitchen, shower room and office.

Part 1

Part 2

They finished sorting out something like 7 days before Christmas!

Best part of 6 weeks without a kitchen. We used a microwave, George Foreman grill and kettle. And yes, lot's of take-a-ways

Crivens. That actually makes what I have to endure (two weeks tops) seem like nothing.

You should worry. On Tuesday I move into a house that I've only been to once.

On the upside I probably won't have home internet for ages so I won't be spending so much time being an insufferable cunt on this here webmong forum.

In 2001 I moved to a house in the USA I had never seen before :)

Mind you, it was brand new and I had the blueprints faxed over :)

Your red tiles are all the rage again now ! Saw them at the tile place last week when I was getting the borders.

And your house looks like it's built like my old one down in London, IE - brick shit house.

And at last it's done. I've been painting for five solid days and then spent all day yesterday and today putting everything back.

Next summer it's new bathroom time.

I don't like the blinds but then I didn't pick them. Just bought a new microwave (stainless) because the white one not only looks shit it is, it's 650w and costed 20 odd quid from Tesco. So we got a 850w Samsung in black and stainless (plus it's nearly twice the size inside..)

Got a knife block and a new coffee table too.

TBH? I'm just glad it's over. The painting bit came up right as my flu was at it's worst and then I gotta breathe in paint fumes for four solid days and get paint all over me. It's not something I'd want to do again but hey, it's done now and out of the way.

The light was intentional. Our house is really rather odd. It sits up on a hill at the front and the sun doesn't come in because of the trees on the other side of the street and then the back doesn't get any light in until the early evening. So the dining area was pretty dark.. Good part is opening it up gave us another window that recieves so much more light than the 'permanently sitting in the shadows' french doors.

It was tempting to take the wall down completely, but the breakfast bar won in the end :)

From what you've said previously, I think you cook a bit like me: with more enthusiasm than caution. In which case the extra work surface will be most welcome, I predict!

Absolutely. I cook 'scratch' with fresh raw ingredients. One fuck up along the way and it's game over. So method comes before sanity hehe.

Cleanup happens toward the end, only thing I have time for during is the odd rinse of the chef's knife.

hehe. Well it was OK when the builders were here 'cos I just woke up, fired up Fallout 3 and waited til they'd gone before going down.

I designed it all and oversaw the whole thing. I think by the time they'd gone they were pretty pissed but I don't care. The sink for example was flipped to lose two deadspaces and create another meter of counter (to the right of the sink) and other changes included moving light switches and adding more power sockets.

Which was all fine but when you're trying to explain that your autism gives you the foresight to see something (even if it sounds completely dumb) they didn't tend to get it.

Thing is because of my terrible OCD if i had an idea and didn't get it implemented I would have been well pissed. Not something you do every day so I wanted it right.

Same thing with the half sink (I mean why the fuck not?) and other stuff. Had a good few arguments with my mother throughout but I think I was right to stick my guns. :) She absolutely loves it.

Get a barbecue. You can have it out on the street if need be, sod it. They're dead cheap now, and it's better than eating salad.

Highly doubtful lol. Haven't been able to use the coffee machine in a couple of days (since the painting started) as it's not quite as portable as the kettle..

Should've really but I'm totally impatient lol

haha don't talk to me about barbecues !

My uncle gave us a really cool gas one a couple of months back.. First two weeks of ownage it pissed with rain and then the garden was being used as a dumping ground so I couldn't use it any way.

I'm dying to get out there and give it a go. This weekend would have been perfect but I've spent it all painting and putting the house back together.

With any luck next weekend will be as mightily fine as this one was and I can finally get some waft going to make my neighbours salivate. Cunts are always doing it to me lol :D
