I currently have it on ebay but I'm prepared to drop the price a little to Beexers.

PM me if you're interested, don't forget it comes with a nice fat cooling solution too :)

Are you zomb13k113r on eBay? I'll take it off your hands for £40 + postage?

Sorry man can't do that. Cheapest they sell for new is about 90 quid. Plus shipping. And that's not taking into account the cooler on there that cost 30 odd quid.

As I said in PM with someone else if you use the BIN I can refund the shipping which doesn't really leave me alot because the shipping will be a tenner at least.

So if anyone on here wants it checkout the usual way and I'll refund the 8 quid shipping :)

I've just bought it anyway, but your logic confuses me.

£40 + postage = £48.

£55 BIN price - £8 postage refunded = £47.

I imagine that BIN isn't going to include shipping so it would still be £55.

Aah yes, of course. Me being silly.

I've requested a total from you, just give me a total for 50 and I'll chuck it over. At least then you've got £3 for postage ;) Heh.

Just reading a review of this card and it says this in the conclusion:

"While it falls short when it comes to today's performance standards, the card has wicked looks. The black printed circuit board, the cooler's cover and the green DVI ports make an awesome combination."

Why on earth would the way a card looks (when it spends 99.99% of it's time hidden away from view) matter to anyone when buying a card?

In the real world the card can run Fallout 3 on high (with the odd slight stammer when going into VATS) Burnout paradise on high with 4sfsaa (FO was on 8xfsaa iirc) and Crysis warhead on medium to high with 2xfsaa running around 32 fps. That takes some tweaking though and I can't remember the exact settings I had 'cos I just whacked them all on full when the 280 came in.

So it's more than competent enough to run anything out now.

It didn't help that my duo was only clocked to 2.2 a core until I got the 280 and then it went up to 2.8 (with a voltage adjustment).

It's all packed up Gaz, as I said per PM if you want it shipped elsewhere let me know. It'll either be going out in about ten minutes (I'm pondering it now) or tomorrow morning :)

The lights stopped working ages back, and I only got the side with the window so I could stick a fan on it. Which also doesn't work.

Too late, I'm chatting with my web developer friend about Java, CSS and html tables and stuff like that. She's an essex bird as well.

Easy: How do I make it so you click on the text and it selects the tick box next to it?
Harder: How can I embed a Java app in strict XHTML and keep valid markup?
Harder: How do I make a div sit a the bottom of the screen if there is not much content, but at the bottom of the content if it's more than one screen high?
Harder: How the fuck did some genius do this without using Flash?

Oh, it turns out she's not a web developer. She tells people what to put on the web. I must be thinking of someone else.

I used the 36gb model on an opteron system for two years and I've never seen anything go as fast.

Not unless you go SCSI and pay out the ass.

I watched one of these fuckers sustain 4 gigabyte/sec transfer rate for hours on end in my tests. Saturated the fibre channel link.

*drools*

I almost went for SSD but they all have controller issues bar the Intel units that cost 4 times the price.

In the end it was between the 740GD and a OCZ SSD unit (rebadged samsung).

Thing was the SSD was 90 quid for a 32gb (I can see Vista licking it's lips already) or 45 delivered for a 74gb raptor that writes twice as fast and is nearly as quick with read times. It's warrantied too.

I'll hold off on SSD now until more companies adopt better controllers that can make the most of it, otherwise it's a bit silly.

Raptors are noisy, but then when I took into account the fact that my system sounds like Heathrow during rush hour and there's no escaping the fact that it has two other spinning drives it was a bit of a moot point.

Flash based SSDs aren't necessarily even as fast as 10k drives at read/write throughputs. Certainly, the flash ones I tested were only about as quick as the 60-disc 15k RPM SAN we were also testing on. It's the seek times that are worlds better though, which is why they make sense as OS boot drives.
