Sony had one of those draw-a-picture demos at E3 last year, didn't they? You drew a tank and the game animated it and let you drive it around.

This will be tempered entirely by how accurate it actually works. Otherwise it will need a camera-motion-plus a year down the line.

But an exciting possibility I've just though of is that it knows where your head is. Which means that it can do that IR goggles thing off TED. FPS games view point could shift slighty with your head (but still be controlled by the pad).

It's an annoying child actor simulator!! Molyneux hype overdrive!!!!*

* That is pretty amazing, but time has taught me not to trust that vain, vain man till it's FUCKING FINISHED. It;s also almost the same as that sony pet eyetoy thing (which is also awesome).

EDIT: Fucking hell man, I don't care how amazing you are but you can't give me instant 1080p movies. Stop fucking lying.

Looks like the Beeb website will have to rewrite that "PSP GO is the talk of E3" article now.

Just a thought - if games are going to be all about full body motion for here on in, if you happened to be unfortunate enough to be stuck in a wheel chair wouldn't you feel mightily fucked off and discriminated against?

Eurogamer's Ellie Gibson was sat next to Mark Rein -- apparently those Natal tech demos were using Unreal Engine 3.

Eurogamer also says that Natal has a "custom processor" in it, which makes sense. Doing all that in software on the 360 would ask a lot of the hardware. Sounds spendy though.

So. Same time tomorrow at 5pm? I enjoyed that.

Ah, but I bet Inderned-phobic Ninty won't have an awesome live streaming website.

I want to control $SOME_GAME with a pad, but using Natal for inventory management, pointing at stuff on the screen and using a swipe gesture for "drop" or "equip".

Seems unlikely. It'd be a tough sell at that price, that's the cost again as the 360. But it might explain the "this is the Xbox 720" subtext.

Got any idea of a website that streams, but also that doesn't make me refresh every 3 minutes and miss stuff?

Once I got it working, the Xbox.com one worked best. Unfortunately it only fucking worked in IE. Hopefully there'll be something similar on the Nintendo and Sony sites tomorrow, because I'm fucked if I'm relying on those shitty ad-filled yank sites again. Streaming? That was fun everyone! Why not turn up to spout fanboy reactions to the next conferences? We have nintendo's at 5pm (plan around it commuters) and Sony's at 7pm TUESDAY.

I'll put up links to live feeds and then the witty banter can commence here.

Dimmers: Last year nintendo had the best steam of the lot of em (for me at least) so it should be good.

Oh. Bugger. At those kind of prices I will be waiting a while till the software lineup can justify it. I thought it would just be about £50 with game. Bah...

Very excited about Epic's 2D platformer.

There's companies with codecs which deliver DVD pictures to doctors required but absent from the scene of an examination or operation. They've had this for three or four years. Clever compression might have come a long way since then. They don't get shouted about much and Microsoft can afford them.

Also, Breadbin can get cracking on an Elite live arcade port with major controls mapped to the pad and minor ones, scanner adjustments, etc.. selectable from the on-screen dash, your hand becoming a ghost which taps the console when detached from the controller. Optional chatpad support, naturally.

Ace Combat just got better by the same rationale. Also RTS titles, Point n' Click, Rhythm games, games which change gameplay based on whether you are leaning forwards or lying across the sofa... progressive smoking games I guess.

Let the XNA community loose on this. Fuck... improved community camera, motion sensing, massage community precedent...

Also first person combat is now possible to a better-than-Wii degree, it would seem.

I need to blog about all this.

RTSs! I didn't think about them. They would rock! I want a Minority Report RTS with voice commands as well.

And MMOs! Arguably the only reason you can't play WoW on the 360 is because there's no way to map the interface to the controller. A hybrid scheme could change that.

As for the instant 1080p thing, it's probably just aggressively caching the first few minutes of every film you scroll past in the shop, and streaming as much as it can while you click through the "purchase" confirmation screens.

I'm more excited about this now. I have price concerns. I think it'll be sold as a new console, y'know.
