Hello!

On TV I saw an advert for the made-to-look-rubbish-by-the-advert "Bionic Commando". It made heavy use of the doom door opening/closing sounds as well as the cyberdemon stomp sound. I think. I can't verify this as I can't find an online, dig-it-all version of the tv advert. I can find trailers and stuff that use roughly the same footage, but I can't find the tv advert. You'll know it because it makes the game loko rubbish and has "ACTUAL INGAME FOOTAGE" and "REPRESENTATIVE OF INGAME EXPERIENCE" or something plastered all over it.

Have any of you doods seen this clip? Did you hear the sounds, or am I mad?

ps: I once heard the doom barrell exploding sound to represent an entire city blowing up. I think this was in a film about a runaway nuclear train, or johhny mnemonic or something like that.

Doom sound bites are on everything by law.

They were used in a Doctor Who episode last year (or the year before), too.

I'm heard the 'Doom door sounds' (the 'open' sound followed by the 'close' sound) used several times as 'a computer breaking' sound. And the 'grunt dying' sound is often used for camels.

This is because Doom used some cheap sound clip collection for some of it's common sounds. Also, the Magic Carpet fireball noise crops up a lot.

I've been busy, so I never found the time to post, but I've always been reading threads and stuff.

There's a “doom door” towards the end of the Body Movin' (Fat Boy Slim Remix) video, which I was coincidentally revisiting only yesterday. Along similar lines, I could swear the Symphony Of The Night wolf howl turns up in Relaxed Muscle's Beastmaster – extra awesomeness pointage.

The EVE "targetting" noise was used in a toothbrush (maybe toothpaste) advert. The first time I heard it I thought my ship was automatically targeting back and I was in a fuck-ton of trouble - getting that noise in EVE when you didn't press anything is a bad thing. Thing is, I was sat on my sofa and I haven't played EVE for months.

And, of course, the Robocop music was used in an Ariston advert.
