Top 100's eh chums? With a few notable exceptions they are nearly always horribly wrong. This is mainly because they are written by morons who believe gaming only began with the release of the Playstation. They might drop Elite into the mix, but chances are they never even played it.

But here on BEEX we have many years of gaming experience and we always know OUR OPINION IS ALWAYS RIGHT.

So now we're going to construct a list of our Top 50. This would have been a top 100 but chances are due to posting numbers we'll just end up with the dregs at the bottom.

"But how does it work chief?" I hear you cry. It's quite quite simple.

You need to PM me a list of your top 10 games (including formats where appropriate). Each game must be numbered from 1 to 10. 1 being your top game, 10 being your 10th favourite game.

Rules:

Your submissions must be numbered 1 to 10.
PM only. No posting on the forum. This is to stop peoples lists influencing other people.
Closing date Friday June 19th - 5pm.

Get to it!

What about series?

For instance will Phoenix Wright games be counted individually or lumped together? I would say lump, but then that doesn't seem so fair for the likes of Zelda say.

Well pointed out. Individual games please.

And remember, you are voting for the best games of all time. So keep that in mind when voting. Or we'll end up with a list that is like those Top 100 songs on the radio that has Girls Aloud at number one and Stairway to Heaven at number 2.

Tougher than I imagined this. I've compiled my list for now but I'm going to have a days think about it.

Sent my list. Surprisingly tough to do, despite always doing a top ten list every January. This list is very similar to that - all the games are the same, but some positions have moved around.

Not putting [GAME X] in was very hard and I really wanted [GAME Y] to be in the list, but there just wasn't room.

I've compiled mine but I'm not submitting it until the deadline day. It'll change a hundred times between now and then.

I think my main problem will be decided which iteration of various series was the best (Civ, Tekken, etc).

Except that, of course, in both of your examples the best iteration is shockingly obvious.

I disagree, mainly because I can't remember who was in Tekken 2 and Tekken 3 (and because I was one of the few people who loved Tekken Tag Tournament... #4 can fuck off though).

This is a good idea, but don't let Grim vote. He will vote for FF7 and spoil the list.

I have voted. I confidently predict that almost no one will echo my votes, and thus I shall be throwing them away. *Sniff*

i prefer Civ2 over Civ 4, but that's probably nostalgia talking. I still don't know what to vote for, probably Civ 4 because i can concede that it's overall the best game.

See, I'd like to put one of the DW games in my list, but I'm damned if I can tell enough of a difference between them to pick a 'best' one.

Important Note

Please do not put mini reviews into your list unless your sole aim is to entertain a readership of 1 (i.e me).

Also it makes the list hard to read when I come to compile it. Just a list 1 to 10 please.

Thank you.

Yup. Let's see if I'm the only one, shall we? (Grim...-o note - we probably shouldn't let this spill over into another thread, especially when it's already derailed one).

:DD . See, it's even worse, not only you're going to vote for it, but you're also campaigning for it.

Everyone, please don't vote for FF7 and vote for Rodland instead. It's also japanese styled but it's cuter and more playable.

Maybe once the list is complete we could then invite comments to make it into an article for the site? Not sure if 'FFVII WTF??' counts as a comment though.

I need to have a good long think about this. Then by the time I've made up my mind it'll be two days past the deadline and Chinny'll just print a list of 50 CPC and GX4000 games anyway. :hat:

Interestingly I've made my (preliminary) list and I've only two games from a current console and one game from a current portable.

Though portables seem my console of choice.

It's not my fault if people vote for the gaming equivalent of Girls Aloud. + There's no value in this unless we do it every year so we can see what is transient and what stands the test of time.

The oldest game in my list is 16 years old. The newest game is only about six months old, but it's the latest version of a series that' I've been playing for over five years. The newest "new" game in the list is still over two years old.

Only one game on my list is current gen (L4D) unless you count Counter Strike. But none are older than PS1.
