To be fair, the three times that's happened we've waited over 10 minutes for you. Are the save points in Too Human quite a long way apart?

Yes. Some of the 3+ hour ones have a grand total of 5 places where it'd count as a section complete.

I'm experimenting with a Twitter account for some more realtime-ish chat over what people are playing. Details are here.

That you write what you want to play. Say, on the way home, you write "I'll be online 9pm-11pm tonight, does anyone want to play Gears2 or L4D?". Then other people know there'll be a game on and are more likely to turn up.

Only if they're twittering, of course. Alternatively you'd just post in this thread and get a larger audience...

Most of the bezzie gamers use Twitter now. And non-Twitter users still benefit from this, because the RSS feed I also linked to is probably more convenient to use on mobile devices than this thread is.

Also, Twitter accounts are free.

I am not adding twatter on top of IM and this place as a way of talking with you all. I like my imaginary friends corralled in one convenient internet place, or "forum" if you will.

You're saying this to the man who has about 12 blogs on the go. Imagine what he could achieve if he focused all his energy on one thing, eh?

So what is everyone playing tonight? I was thinking we could see who is wanting a game tonight and try to organize something so we don't fill up a game of versus and have a few people missing out?

Obv if there aren't many people coming online tonight versus is awesome, but we could try for some gears or ut3? Or even some cod4,I enjoyed playing last night with curio, nick, bobby and Ooster.

I like CoD4, but last time it was a terrible mess. Games were ending all the time as the host left, we couldn't find a match a lot of the time. It really knocked the wind out of my CoD love sails.

I don't really like UT3, but I'm always up for Gears or L4D. I won't be on till about 10pm as I'm going to the cinema first, though.

Is there a way to play this online with two people on one box? I'm sure you're the person who'd know this.

I tried to figure this out ages ago, but could never do it. It's annoying as you could with CoD3 (up to four players in fact!)

I'm sure you can only play up to 4 players on the same box in a local match.

No for some reason after cod3 they decided to sat a big fuck you to couples and housemates everywhere. You can only play splitscreen on offline private matches. The point of this is lost on me too. This is the reason I have two xboxs and two copies of the game(I'm rubbish at taking a stand and boycotting something).

So we will forget cod. Gears or ut3 then? We could get a wee shot of l4d in earlier if people are coming on later due to 'social lives' *spit*.

No! Because that means we'll be moving in opposite directions, which means a higher closing speed, which means they might hit really hard and the pubes will become enmeshed!

It's performance reasons. Splitscreen means the game is doing getting on for twice as much work as normal play. So, where does that extra horsepower from? If you tune the game engine to work under splitscreen, then during normal play it has spare capacity. If you turn the game engine down somehow during splitscreen play, you need to do a fuckton more QA to make sure it works smoothly and people will still complain it doesn't look as good.
