When I awoke one morning to get to the animal shed to see the old man carrying her sad, limp body out of the barn, clearly pained with grief, and then over the fields into the sunrise I felt truly upset with myself. I have never really gotten over this horrible act of greed, and I am thoroughly ashamed.

Deus Ex 2 was a significant advancement on the original in that there are no longer invincible NPCs that you can't kill. This means that in DX2 you can kill everyone, and I mean everyone.

Naturally, my most recent playthrough of the game gave me several choices about whether or not to kill relatively innocent characters for murderous gain. I spent a lot of time killing these people just to hear other people tell me off or make me feel bad, before reloading and carrying on as normal. The game has 4 possible endings, one of which includes just killing everyone, which I like very much.

I'm pretty sure everyone's built a doorless room in the Sims, and decorated it with crazy yellow children's wallpeper, and put your Sim in it with nothing for company but a fireplace and a chest of drawers in front of it... right?

You can't blast your fellow Tarsusies when you first meet them, nor can you go nuts in 'weapon free' places. Because they deactivate your weapons. Even your knife.

Like I said in the GTA thread, I start every single mission in GTA IV by stealing a car and slowly rolling along, listening intently to my friend. When they stop talking, I get out the car, slowly walk over to them and shoot them in the head over and over again.

If I had to deal with the corpses myself, it would be just like the end of (that movie).

I'm obsessed with bad endings and odd game overs as well, so I've intentionally destroyed everything and killed everyone over and over just to see what would happen.

Yeah, I liked that too. You hear all the major players telling you their sinister plans and ordering you about, and then your old mate pops up and essentially goes "Fuck it, let's just kill everybody, I've had enough of this shite."

Pity the endings were all way too short and kind of disappointing. They were seemingly designed specifically to make you want to see the alternatives.

Because though I really needed to get through the doorway he'd been blocking, I did feel pretty bad afterwards.

Fallout?

In the original Deus Ex after I gave a candy bar to a young homeless boy in exchange for some info, I promptly smacked him round the head with a crowbar and got my candy bar back.

The second time I may have used the rocket launcher.

Thats the one thing I liked about the original deus ex. People like Walton Simons and Gunther were somewhat hard people to kill, but there's nobody in the game that can argue with a single decent shot from the rocket launcher.

Back to Deux Ex 2, it sort of annoyed me that the templars weren't a bonafide faction until very near the end, because there is plenty of opportunity throughout to ignore the WTO & go and be very 'templary', by killing the Omar, being friendly with paladins, etc, but in most missions its hard to not kill loads of them.

I feel bad killing the rats.

On the plus side, I don't believe you can commit moral wrongs in games (tampering with the code or properly cheating excluded) - and if that's all you're worried about on the Day of Judgement I think you've a heck of a lot more sinning to do. *

I guess in today's climate it's not very wise to make jokes about green-haired Lemmings committing mass suicide by blowing themselves up. Man, that was fun, especially the 'Oh No'.

In Gyromite I used to position the professor on top of one of the gates, and watch him get squished as it rose up again.

I've never played it myself, but I've watched YouTube videos of some fantastic pieces of Rollercoaster Tycoon carnage murders before.

I once got confused in the opening weeks of war in Silent Hunter III, and sank a neutral passenger liner headed from Denmark in the North Sea just before dawn. It only took twenty minutes to go down, by which time dawn's early light was approaching. I felt really guilty.

I also just physically can't play the evil side in Knights of the Old Republic. I just feel so wretched. The only game I've ever been comfortable in being is - aside from the Bullfrog games - Fallout 1 & 2.

I've been neglecting Animal Crossing too. I haven't loaded it for months. I daren't now, because they'll all reproach me when I load it back up. And there'll be weeds everywhere. And they'll hate me for it.

First that springs to mind would be in Condemned 2 where I clubbed a chained-up dog to death to see if there was anything behind it only to find a single health pack which I didn't need anyway.

Never was a dog lover though.

In Test Drive on the Atari I once revved the engine really hard without shifting it into first gear and the windscreen shattered.

Oh actually, one of the things I felt worst about doing was in Shadow of the Colossus when you ride

yeah, one of the best moments in video games yet, in a sort of miserable way.

Blew up someone's ship in eve. Then extorted twice the value of his ship from him per week so I wouldn't attack him. This had nothing to do with the fact he'd grown wiser and could avoid a fight, but the end result was good, as I got money for not having to chase him. This lasted for 2 months.

Probably accidentally whacking my dog with a hoe in Harvest Moon for GBA. We were going after stray dogs, that had gotten onto my virtual farm, to stop them from eating my chickens, and it was an accident.

Oh, where to begin?

I made a 'guinea pig concentration camp' in the first Sims. It was ridiculously secure and had a staff of eight who supervised a huge two story building filled with caged guinea pigs who were just allowed to starve in their own filth. There was even an isolation room for any staff members who got bitten and infected.

In the Sims 2, I downloaded a charming cottage with a basement. I created a bloke called 'Mister Psycho' and immediately constructed two cells in the basement, and a large portakabin in the back garden (also with cells - one of which containing a fridge, portable barbecue and lots of wooden chairs). The cells didn't have doors (though they did have observation windows) so I needed to use that move_objects code a lot. Every day, Mister Psycho would call the adoption agency and have them send over a child. They were immediately placed into the cell with the wooden chairs. Mister Psycho would then use the fridge to obtain hot dogs and light the barbecue. As using a barbecue indoors always results in a fire, one would start. Mister Psycho would be plucked to safety by the move_objects code, and the child would be surrounded by flaming chairs and die in the resulting conflagration.

Meanwhile, Mister Psycho had called for a babysitter and imprisoned her in the basement cells (so her wailing could only barely be heard in the main part of the house) and, once the child in the portakabin was burned up, call the adoption agency for another kid. He soon got into a routine and was able to burn a new kid to death every day, with an impressive collection of tombstones and a veritable army of ghosts wandering the garden at night. Sadly, my save file got corrupted and I lost everything.

In Oblivion, I would deliberately ride horses off cliffs to kill them.

This isn't particularly mean, but one of my favourite things to do in Hitman Blood Money is to kill a guard or target right in front of a civilian, and then, as they cower before you, throw them a pistol, and wait.

It is fantastic fun.

Those bloody civilians, picking up guns and trying to play hero. Bastards, I mow them down with impunity.

There really is nothing better in hitman BM than a fully upgraded, silenced shotgun with laser sight. Hit someone with that pup and they fly clear across the room. That's where it's at.

Excluding myriad Fallout atrocities, I think the worst thing I ever did (more in terms of stupidity than cruelty) was kick Black around for a full five minutes in Gunstar Future Heroes before collecting the wee crystal and moving on.
