Be Excellent To Each Other

DW Gundam let me down badly, its just Dynasty Warriors dressed up (not entirely a bad thing but not what I hoped it would be). I can tell from skipping through the menus and looking at the amounts of tinkering you're able to perform that this is Mech geek heaven.

After the stunning intro and going through the brief tutorial I'm now (hopefully) playing the mech combat game I've long been waiting for. Combat feels solid as do the models and scenery (which is a little simplistic but mostly destructable* so it's forgiveable). Movement is handled well, and the controls feel nice (you can feel the difference new equipment and tuning makes) I'll write up more when I've put some decent time into it, but I just wanted to say that so far it looks like a winner.

Bought it for the split-screen co-op, which it clearly states on the back that it has. It does not have split-screen co-op.

Also it's fucking shite.

I'm not buying it until THE FUCKS learn to put an option into their demos to invert the y-axis. Idiots.

The battles feel tedious and once you figure out that a good sniper rifle + the ability to fly = automatic win button, it's all downhill from there.


Even Chromehounds impressed me more than AC4A.

I'd like to play this game, but not enough to pay a lot of real monies for it. When I can get it on the 360 for under a tenner, and I don't have a huge stack of unplayed games, I will get it.

Also: Myps, even a bad game that involves Flying about in Robotic suits crammed with lasers, missiles and other ZOMG shit will defecate arse piss down the throat of any cricket game.

Played me some more Mecha Shooty Shooty last night.

Still enjoying it too. Had to 'Pimp my ride' to get through a level last night and in doing so go to grips with most of the upgrading options (Totally enjoyed geeking out on this too ). Choosing a whole new AC through the Design menu is very clumsy, managed to work out what I was doing in the end though.

Still early days, only 2-3 hrs in but my initial thoughts still stand.

If anyone has this, and doesn't want it, it's 700 points of Goozex, I am first in line, and if someone gets it to me by next weekend, I will be giving them a tip.

Enjoyed another night of AC4:FA last night. It's certainly not perfect but it's drawn me in like Perkies to a Subway System. I think it's because I love Mecha so much, my mind fills in the blanks a little and I get sucked into it all the more. The tweaky stuff found in racers is something I skim over, but in this I'm going knob crazy. There's paint jobs, decals and camo patterns to get jiggy with too.

Still feel I'm only at the tip of the iceberg with it all, and I know from what I've seen that a high powered sniper rifle would be a great advantage* (with the right sensor array ), you don't have this from the off though. Parts and weaponry are unlocked as missions and duels are completed (and must be bought) giving it a collect em up vibe too.

A marmite game, but I'm slapping it all over my muffin.

Hi Armored Core 4: For Answer fans!

After hitting a brick wall against the ZOMGMEGAFORTRESS in the sand, I decided to start the game afresh. Armed with the knowledge gained previously, I decided on choosing a different Mech from the off (allowing use of alternate ordnance that suits my playing style ). The beauty of this game is that there are still new levels to play through as the story branches off depending on what you've completed previously.

My thumbs are still up on this one.

Just one more thing, I have had the game slow down to single figure frame rates on a few occasions, strangely though the offending level wasn't always affected. I've re-installed the game to the HD, and haven't noticed it since, but like I say I'm playing through from the start again so haven't reached the level yet.

Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries was a good mech game. 2002 and better graphics than AC4.
