I urge everyone with a PS3 to download the demo of Valkyria Chronicles from the UK PSN.

It's a lovely-looking squad-level TBS game, which feels fresh and exciting due to some interesting mechanics. No grid or hexes, use of action points to move in something that feels real time but isn't. And stuff. Advance Wars meets XCOM, shall we say?

Generous demo - a short training level and a skirmish - and now and I have yet another game I need to buy.

I think the biggest news here is that there's a demo on the UK PSN.

Will do tonight.

This is added to Little big planet as things that will one day lead me to get a PS3*

Incidentally I do really like your little game playing updates in the Bezzie RSS feed Owen.

*Probably from argos. For £50.

I've put nine hours into this over the weekend and it's fucking brilliant.

It's got amazing battles that are full of highs and lows, it's really fucking beautiful and for possibly the first time in my life, I'm so interested in the world and stroy that I'm reading all the text background information in the game and even - get this! - using in-game money to buy extra cut scenes.

Yeah, you heard.

I assume the demo is still up on the PSN store somewhere. It gives you a quick tutorial and one of the skirmish maps (which I can now do in one turn), but doesn't give you show you everything.

Anyway, it's awesome and it's, unfortunately, PS3 exclusive. No 360 version. (Though there is talk of a PSP game, but whether that's a cut-down version of this game or something completely different I don't know.)

Put a good few hours into this over the weekend. I'm up to chapter ten now. It's still fucking brilliant - and it looks like it's going to last me months.

Oh yeah, they actually sent me this months and months and MONTHS ago, and I've only played it once. I'll give it a go when I'm done with MGS4. Just watching the final cut scene now. Should be done in a couple of days.

Started the sequel on the PSP last night. It's immensely good - and seems a fair bit more complicated, which may turn out to be a good thing.

I think I saw it for a tenner recently, but the cheapest current price seems to be £13.83 at DVD.co.uk. It's round about fifteen quid in a lot of places.

I'll have a look in Blockbusters later, was in there yesterday and they seemed to be having a bit of a clearout of used games.
