I saw a great website once where it listed comparisons between 'traditional' gifts in the UK and US (since they very somewhat) and 'modern' ones. I seem to remember the 'modern' list getting to gold and diamonds remarkably quickly.

I got my my wife a framed piece of Freddy Krueger's jumper, which he wore in the film Freddy Vs. Jason. £100 well spent, that was. (And the certificate of authenticity was made of paper, so it sort of counts.)

It was my first anniversary last year and I named a star after Lady Rixondale. I know it's a bit tacky, but she found it rather romantic being the girly girl that she is.

She bought me a square foot of land in Scotland to make me an official Lord (or Laird or whatever).

That's what I did for my 1st anniversary - bought us both a square foot of land.

Burial plots are best saved for the later anniversaries.

Fee simple, or term of years absolute?

Take her camping to Le Mans for the race weekend. That's what my brother in law did for my sister.
