Well in a few weeks I have been married for a year....

I could do with some suggestions on what you get for a first anniversary present.

I think it is 'paper'?

Help me please.

I always liked the look of those photo books you can get made up though flickr. You could fill it with pictures from the wedding or from the last year.

Punch your way out of a paper bag wearing a crotchless batman outfit.

Yeah, I was going to suggest photographs too with a new baby. You could get one taken of you and the little one for her?

The wife beat me to it, her friend is a professional photographer, and we have a session booked soon.

:this:

If you have sufficient photos of the year, it'd be a wonderful present.

I saw a great website once where it listed comparisons between 'traditional' gifts in the UK and US (since they very somewhat) and 'modern' ones. I seem to remember the 'modern' list getting to gold and diamonds remarkably quickly.

I got my my wife a framed piece of Freddy Krueger's jumper, which he wore in the film Freddy Vs. Jason. £100 well spent, that was. (And the certificate of authenticity was made of paper, so it sort of counts.)

Might not be the sort of thing for your wife, though, unless she's also a huge Freddy fan.

It was my first anniversary last year and I named a star after Lady Rixondale. I know it's a bit tacky, but she found it rather romantic being the girly girl that she is.

She bought me a square foot of land in Scotland to make me an official Lord (or Laird or whatever).

That's what I did for my 1st anniversary - bought us both a square foot of land.

Burial plots are best saved for the later anniversaries.

Fee simple, or term of years absolute?

EDIT (38 times the going rate for land in scotland, I should get me into this idea)

Take her camping to Le Mans for the race weekend. That's what my brother in law did for my sister.

I don't know if you know/care, but my wedding anniversary is the 4th of May.

I just walked into town to buy a prezzie and found myself in Beaverbrooks. I tells ya, the staff in there really put the 'beaver' into their name. I was served by 2 ridiculously hot women. So much for a 'paper' present. No, £175 worth of gold and stone it is!
