Your moderator elections are now on. Your candidates are below:

chinnyhill10
Craster
GazChap
Goddess Jasmine
Kalmar
myp

To cast your vote you need to PM your choices, up to a maximum of three (3), to the VoteCounters group (consisting of Grim..., DavPaz, and Bluecup) before the 1st April 2009. To do this:

  1. Open Compose PM
  2. Under "Groups" on the left hand side, select "Votecounters"
  3. Click the button below that "Add [To]"
  4. Type the names of your choices in the PM's subject line and not the body (this will save clicking for the vote counters)

Obviously, the votecounters will keep all votes confidential.

I have my count, but I'm waiting for the other counters to confirm.

And yes, TheVision, it was close. One vote could have changed the result. Oops.

I have also completed my count. One to go.

Special thanks to those of you that (a) voted for more than three people, and (b) didn't put the votes in the subject line.

Ah, so me voting for every member of the forum via SMS didn't help then?

I don't think me voting for Titler 400 times via the morse code translater helped much either.

I was about to apologise for the latter, automatically assuming that I'd ballsed it up. To my surprise, my sent items seem to show I managed to vote properly. Woohoo!

I used semaphore to vote 316 times for the mod dream team of CUS, Stu, and Dudley. I hope the telescopes I posted to the vote counters were sufficiently powerful to allow them to read my flag configurations.

You use massive flags, so I doubt they'd miss it.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Craster, Kalmar and Myp!

Congrats to our new (and continuing) mods. Commiserations to our non-winners.

Thanks to out-going mods also.

(This is the 'election result' colour BTW)

This is not a moderating decision, and if doesn't affect anything. If you really want to know, send a PM.

Because I was asked not to.

If all of the participants concurred, I would post the results.

I think it just makes a mockery of things. If you don't want the trouble makers lobbing stones in (and they will at somepoint in the future) then you need to be transparent. Otherwise the first accusation will be that the elections here are a conspiracy and the mods are puppets.

Of course the elections were conducted fairly (and thanks to the vote counters by the way) but why set yourself up for a fall the first time the new mods come up against some opposition?

It just seems, odd.

BTW: Davpaz, I got your PM but deleted it. Not because I'm rude but if it contained any details of the result then I don't want to know unless everyone else knows.

What seems more odd to me is that there is now a wait before the new mods take over.

I don't see how a list of numbers of votes is any more transparent though? Accusations the results were made up can just as easily be applied to a list of numbers. Hypothetically, if anyone stood and received nul point (hey, there's a reason my name ain't up there), it's probably kinder to spare their blushes.

Also, I've been saving this for, ooh, an hour now until an opportunity presented itself:
